I'm having a hard time swapping 8.25 brakes to an 8.75. The 2.5 wide shoes are hitting the axle flange. I don't see how the 7.25 would work.

Is there a difference between the backing plates? I swapped my 8.25 brakes over to my 8.75. Now when you slip the drum on, it acts like it won't seat all the way against the axle. It's as if the axle is too far in on the driver's side? Any suggestions?

wasn't sure about the JB Weld, but I'm pretty sure that the silicone would swell up eventually,lose contact and start polluting the brake system as you mentioned. I would probably take it back off and clean it up real good and fill the rust spot up by building it up by welding (with a...
