Which aluminum master cyl for 71 Duster

The part number that 340doc posted is a two bolt plastic reservoir master cylinder. Originally for mid 90's Dakota, with I believe a 24mm bore. There are at least 6, maybe as many as 10 master cylinders that look the same, just with different bore diameters, thread sizes, and some don't have...

Which aluminum master cyl for 71 Duster

Pedal pressure is feels very normal for Mopar manual brakes. A little on the heavy side, but nothing bad. One buddy couldn't believe it was manual brakes, after driving it he had to check under the hood to confirm there was no booster. Also, you might find that the Raybestos part is actually...

Which aluminum master cyl for 71 Duster

I have that Raybestos master cylinder on my 70 Duster with manual single piston calipers, and it works just fine.

    7 1/4 To 8 3/4 drum brakes

Actually, if you're working with SBP on both, and your 7-1/4" has 10" brakes, everything except the backing plate will 100% interchange. Backing plates MIGHT work with one hole drilled for the lower centre stud. With 9" brakes, only one way to be sure...

will 14 inch wheels clear fmj swap

If your donor has the 10.87" rotors, yes. Not sure on the larger rotors. Most F-bodies came with 14" wheels.

    Dual Master Cylinder

    The adapters you need are: Weatherhead 7909 & 7910, or FMSI 3230 & 3231.

    Dual Master Cylinder

The fittings are 1/2x20 and 9/16x20. I don't think theres an adapter for 3/8x24 - 9/16x20. You might need to find a nut that's meant for the 3/16 line, and cut & re-flare.

    Scarebird Brakes

I think they used to come with a template for redrilling to 4" bp.

    Which master cylinder

The pushrod hole in the newer master cylinder is about 3/8" shallower, the same as the thickness of the adapter. I'm not sure if it's design or luck.

    Which master cylinder

A friend of mine made a batch of adapter plates from a template we got from bigblockdart.com. I think there's a few vendors that sell them. Why did I switch to the plastic style? Lots of reasons, but mostly because it looked "cooler" and wasn't rusty. I was also adding a line lock...

    Which master cylinder

My old catalog shows 1-1/32" bore for the MC36426 with power disc in 71-72. There's no manual disc master cylinder listed, so no bore diameter listed. The picture looks like the correct style, with the larger res for the front circuit. If it was my car, I'd use the MC36426. In fact, I did...

    Which master cylinder

I was at work (auto parts store) when I saw the question, so I quickly looked it up in the computer. Tomorrow, if I'm not too busy, I'll check my old Raybestos catalog from the late 80's. What's on the car now? Have you measured the bore on the existing cylinder? Are you looking to try and...

What's a good replacement brake shoe

It looks like the Raybestos part number for 10" front shoes is 332PG. There's no part number listed for the rears for 67, but for '69 they list 331PG, which are 10x1.75" as well. I think the webbing is slightly different, but might work. You could always check the picture of the 331PG from...

1967 barracuda drum to disk using Scarebird question

I priced out all the pieces for this swap for a friend a few weeks ago. I'm at work today and just found my notes. Looks like a 91-94 Previa rotor w/ rear drum brakes. I looked up a Raybestos 96174R, if that helps...

65 Barracuda converting to double master cylinder

I made the assumption that we're talking about a drum brake car, and just swapping to a dual master cylinder. From what I remember, the 65's use a junction block, rather than a proportioning valve. One line in, and three out. Brake bias is determined by wheel cylinder bore. As for a parts...

65 Barracuda converting to double master cylinder

I did the same swap on a 65 Fury years ago. The master cylinder bolted right in place, pushrod snapped right in. The existing line from the master to junction block, screwed into the rear port on the new cylinder. Then I unscrewed the rear line from the junction, plugged the port on the...

    Brake pedal stays down?

Pedal hangs up whether its running or not. I forgot to mention, that this is a new development. Brakes worked fine last weekend when I drove the car last.

    Brake pedal stays down?

When I step on the pedal in my Aspen the pedal feels normal, but the pedal stays down after a take my foot off, and the brakes stay applied. I can pull the pedal up, and the brakes release. I'm not sure where to start. Pedal linkage? Master cylinder? Booster(seems doubtful)? Collapsed...
