Caliper is stuck, rebuild or buy new?

Spend a few more bucks on some Duplicolor caliper paint and make sure the hoses are good.

Caliper is stuck, rebuild or buy new?

You better make sure it's not the brake hose. They can act like a check valve and keep the caliper squeezed. Open the bleeder and see if it frees up.

Jeep rear discs on an 8 3/4 axle solution

Lots of cars run a solo disc in the back...the fronts do most of the work...my Concorde LXi weighs about 3600 pounds and uses solo discs on the back. It'll outstop your tahoe for sure and it would be a close comparo to your other two. The Concorde might best them all...with it's solo rear...

    Caliper question

yeah, iI've seen them in some of the parts list photos I have seen, but I don't know where you might use them. They don't exist in my Chilton's manual for our cars (DART DEMON 68-76) with the same type brakes.

    Caliper question

You can see in this pic where they took a pair of pliers and bent the flange down so it was slightly preloaded against the caliper. thats what you need to do. Apply high temp disc brake grease on the sliders when you are done fitting everything. These were no the most precise brakes, but they...

    Caliper question

    Caliper question

You should also use the spray disc pad silencer but it does sound like you have another problem. The retainers are supposed to keep them from rattling so they may need to be bent a little...but i can't SEE it. LOL P.S. the spray will keep the IB pad adhered to the piston and the OB pad adhered...

    Caliper question

You wanna lock the tabs on the OB pads (arrows) down tight so that they can not move independent of the caliper.
  22. mopar340dave

    Caliper question

Do your brake pads have little tabs that need to be formed onto the caliper? If they do they will look kinda like hooks. Have someone step on the brake and you tap them down tight with a hammer and punch. Update: If this pic is accurate, that is your prob. Those ears need to be formed around...
  23. mopar340dave

    Caliper question

You either have the wrong calipers with your bracket or the slider surface is worn down and allowing too large of a clearance. The caliper should not have any more room than it needs to fit in the bracket. I assume you have the spring clips installed and that they are in good shape.

Overall best rear disc conversion kit

Here's a sweet deal for ya...if you r not gonna upgrade the rear. http://www.moparsupercenter.com/d35disc-2.html this is what 72 scamp was talkin about
  25. mopar340dave

    Stupid pad question

You don't have to open the bleeder for the piston to go back in unless someone topped off the master after the pads were worn down. But....brake fluid is cheap....flush out the old.

    67 Dart Rear Brake Help

The rotors are from R1 Concepts. They are the E-line drilled and slotted rotors. They come zinc plated and that is the silver you see. I painted the rest of the non-wear surfaces the same color I painted the calipers to keep them from rusting. I live near the ocean so rust is a major issue. The...

    67 Dart Rear Brake Help

Here is a pic of a cheapo bleeder kit in action. Using this type is just like using a can, bucket or glass jar. The only difference is that this one has a cap to hook the line to along with a vent hole. Very simple set-up. The tube attachs to the lid with another tube attached to the same...

    Left Disc DRAGS...??????

.025"??? Is that a typo? That is 1/4 of 1/10 of an inch! That's less than 2/3's of a millimeter! I find it hard to believe that any cars brakes would be effected buy a difference this small, considering that I have changed one set of front pads one day after work and the other side the next...
