holley V's Demon on the track

    Sounds like a plan.

holley V's Demon on the track

Wow, if you mean 72 in the primary your primary side is WAY richer than your secondary. The secondary side should be 7-8 sizes bigger than the primary.

holley V's Demon on the track

The best thing to do is look up the jet sizes that the carb came with from the factory and start there. Proceed exactly as 388dart said.

holley V's Demon on the track

Wow. That shouldn't work. The reason that there is a difference of 7-8 jet sizes between the primary and secondary is because the power valve flows fuel into the primary at the same rate as a size 7 or 8 jet. If you vary from that difference then one end of the carb is going to be lean compared...

    holley 650 jets

I would love to have one too but man they are expensive.

    holley 650 jets

    Good advice.

    holley 650 jets

You need the vacuum gauge. For the power valve, go with one 2hg below your vacuum reading at idle - 8.5hg at idle = 6.5 power valve. As far as jets go that is something you need to determine through making a series of runs. The best starting point is the size the carb came with from Holley. Most...

Is a carb spacer the answer to this?

A ½" spacer is all most engines need. If you get a four hole spacer it is absolutely vital that the holes are the EXACT SAME SIZE as the throttle bores of your carb or the airflow will be disrupted and you will do more harm than good. Any engine can benefit from a four hole spacer in terms of...

    This sucks!

Back when I had my first car I bought and Edelbrock LD340 manifold for it. It ran like crap. When I pulled it I noticed that the intake gaskets were compressed all along the top edge and untouched all along the bottom. The freakin manifold was cut wrong. I took it back. I haven't used another...

how big of fuel line do i need

You will hear a lot of different opinions on this but here is what I learned long ago from some veteran drag racers. A little too big is not as much of a a problem as a little too small. The fact that the car doesn't die out and is not "starved" for fuel does not mean it would not run...

Where To Get High Octane Gas...

For you Maryland guys there is Valentin's Sunoco in Towson and Hobb's Sunoco off of North Point road. They both stock the full line of Sunoco/CAM2 fuels.

    750 Holley jetting questions

Actually, those probably ARE the original jets. My 750 had 75's and 82's out-of-the-box. The secondary jets are always 6-9 sizes larger than the primaries because the primaries also get fuel flow through the power valve. DO NOT put the same jets in both ends and if you change one change the...

what carb should I use ?

Another good point that I left out.

what carb should I use ?

If you love the thermoquad and it will fit under the hood with the spacer use it. Spacers can add low end torque and improve idle quality (4 hole correctly sized to the carb) or high RPM horsepower (single hole). I would not shy away from one unless there are hood clearance problems.

    Too Much Carb?

Exactly, and this is the important point. If the carb is too big the velocity of the air moving through it will never reach the proper level and the carb will not meter correctly. The two most common errors are too much carb and too much cam. Everything has to work together.

    power valve block off question

See if Holley can give you flow numbers for the valve you have an go up enough jet sizes to compensate. I have seen recommendations of up to 8 sizes larger. When using a only a primary power valve you also need to have this difference between the primary and secondary jets or your primaries and...

    Holley Carb tuning

This is a little trick I use to set them correctly. After the engine is warmed up a little, drop the idle to where you want it. If it tries to die don't hit the throttle, lightly tap the accelerator pump arm. If it gets better you are too lean, turn the screws 1/8 of a turn out. If it gets worse...

    Which Carb for the Spring

I have a Holley 3310 750 on my 383 and it, like every Holley I have ever run, has been a set-it-and-forget-it carb. Once it is dialed in it is done on a street car. I have heard good and bad things about the demon carbs (even here on these forums) but I have never run one. You would be good to...
