    Vacuum Level Question

I did not notice any cracks in the intake when I looked it over after purchase, but I did not have it inspected for that problem. The only obvious modification was some grinding along the edges of the ports. It did not look substantial, but then again I had no frame of reference. The gasket is...

    Vacuum Level Question

Hey guys, I am trying to get my 273 running right and am still having problems. I was running a stock 340 intake but recently converted to an Edelbrock LD4B. With the 340 intake my idle vacuum was approximately 15 give or take (Comp XE262H cam). With the LD4B my idle vacuum is approximately 7...

    273 intake suggestions

It looks like the Edelbrock LD4B has smaller runners compared to the 340 intake I am using now. As I understand it, the reduced volume would increase velocity and thus torque, is that correct? Any idea how much gain I would be looking at? Thanks.

    273 intake suggestions

Hello guys, I am looking for advice about an intake for my 273. It was originally a 2bbl but now runs an Edelbrock Performer carb on a stock intake from a 69 340. I am running an XE262H cam and Summit Racing ignition. If I could come up with a 273 Commando intake and maybe a 4 hole carb spacer...

    Edelbrock Advice

As a follow up, after I took the car on a 20 mile drive I shut it off and checked the fuel line. The filter did not appear to have any gas in it (its clear plastic and I know I should replace it with metal so if anyone has a part # I will add it to the to do list) which seems strange as it seems...

    Edelbrock Advice

Thanks for the tips everyone. To answer a question, the choke sets when the engine is cold, but I still need to use the gas pedal to keep the engine running for a minute or two. After its hot I can only get it started by holding the gas to the floor and cranking quite a bit more than before. It...

    Edelbrock Advice

I am running an Edelbrock Performer (500 cfm) with an electric choke. In the past it has started right up hot or cold. Recently it had an issue with the choke not shutting off when the engine warmed. Since it had to go into the shop for some head work anyway I told them to fix the carb too. I...
