    yeah, that's why i think the best idea would be to get some foam and put it in the intakes. i'm actually coming up with another system, that (i hope) would be cable operated, that does what the air grabber hoods did- shut out the scoop and draw air from the eng. compartment.

    and thanks for the input! i think it would work pretty well. only other thing would be that in bad weather you would have to put foam in the scoop to protect it.

    the big difference is just that- the RPM air gap makes a cooler, denser charge. IIRC, it's taller too.

    holleys tend to be square bore as well, though. if you're gonna reuse the TQ you will need the adapter, if you use a holley sq. bore carb you will not. IIRC, the holley will fit on a spread bore intake OR a square bore, but the TQ will only work on the spread bore unless you use the adapter for...

    i know ford used it, but it's actually a classic hot rod design.... a teardrop hood would solve your issues. also, maybe taking out the heat pad, modifying the hood's frame, and then putting the hood back on would help too. is there a piece of the frame in the way of the cleaner? take a look...
