    vacuum secondary vs. double pumper?

Unless you shift at WOT then you will have to wait for the vacuum secondaries to reopen with each shift killing ET even with the lightest spring you will still have to wait. VS carbs lack an accelerator pump and cant open as fast as a double pumper. Not bad, thats the going swap meet rate...

    vacuum secondary vs. double pumper?

X2 except no trans brake both stock Holleys but the VS had a lot of track time with various springs and was well sorted. My car picked up 2 mph and .2 in the quarter.

    Myth about 950 Holley

Thats a good idea. I have found, in my experience, when you crest the 600hp mark motors tend to like the Dominator. I have also done the 850 base plate swap with no problems. I am unaware of any passage inconsistencies, that doesn't mean that there aren't any. I would read one of the Holley...

    Myth about 950 Holley

I would put a billet 850 base plate on your 750. I think they are around $110. Oh and BTW I just put a 1050 Dominator on my other brand low 10 second car and it picked up 4mph in the 1/8th (went from 102 to 106 and change).

Not Passing Smog Need Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you manage these numbers with your current set up? Or did you swap out parts?

    Any input on this carb?

Your welcome. I was wondering why you were looking at the Dominator. I think this post clears that up. Good luck!

    How does my contraption look??

I disagree here. The carb gets its fuel from the log. The regulator at the end of the fuel log bleeds off the pressure and keeps cooler fuel on the log. The lines from the log to the carb inlet is stagnet unless the needles are open to fill the bowls. The fuel doesn't "turn around" its fed to...

    which carb?

The size would be right for your application.I would stay away from a vacuum secondary carb though since you have a four speed. A 650 DP can be had for $50 bucks on ebay and have one of the holley specialty shops go through it. You could rebuild it yourself, it would be a good learning...

    Any input on this carb?

First off, did you read that article? It doesn't support your point. Secondly, have either of you guys run a Dominator on the street? Two? I have and I am here to tell you that they are the most adjustable carbs on the planet. They can be made to work very well. I might even bet that you could...

    Any input on this carb?

I dont agree with that at all. A 750 will run perfect on a medium (unsure what level that is) built 360. Vacuum carbs are for stock cars with too low stall speed and highway gears. Any car with gear and a remotely loose converter will like a double pumper. The Holley 750 dominator is a 750HP in...

Not Passing Smog Need Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay lets look at the readings one by one and what you can do to help it pass. Lets start with loaded. High CO (partially burnt fuel) means it is running on the rich side of things. Lean it out by putting a smaller jet in it. I would lean it out till it starts to get a little pop out the exhaust...

    Vacuum or Mechanical Secondaries?

In a word, YES. A mechanical secondary will have better throttle response when tuned properly. If your 340 is stock a 700 dp from holley will put a smile on your face for sure. Go get one and lay some rubber!

    Vacuum or Mechanical Secondaries?

Mechanical for a 4 speed car. Vacuum carbs take too long, even with the lightest spring, for a 4 speed car since you cycle the throttle closed when you shift. It would be a pig if you had to wait for the secondaries to open after every shift.

    Carb CFM help

Any carb will run good on that 360 you have. I run a similar motor in one of my cars and I use a 750 dp. My car has a bit more gear than yours but I think you will like the "instant on" power of the 750dp. The 3310 holley 750 vacuum secondary is a great carb and in a drag strip shoot out it...
