what if I didn't match the ports??

well the intake is bigger than the head. Like I said I'm not to worried about some minor hp loss, I just didn't know if it would make it difficult to tune. thanks for the reply

what if I didn't match the ports??

I bought a used intake manifold for my 318 build and it had been gasket matched. well long story short after looking at my 302 heads and seeing the HUGE push rod holes I decided to not try and match the ports. Now I am wondering what this will do to my drivability. This is just a daily driver...

Need input on my 318 build!

I think I am just going to go with the stock pistons and measure the deck hight. I will figure my compression then and if needed mill the heads to raise it up to the 9:1 area. I was kind of just fishing to see if anyone had already done something similar so I had some numbers to go off of...

Need input on my 318 build!

see thats what sucks I won't know how far down in the hole they are until I buy them. I don't want to buy them if they aren't going to work. Its a crappy situation. I think I might just go with the factory 8.5:1 pistons and mill the heads to get my compression up a little. 33x12.5x15" tires...

Need input on my 318 build!

well my 86 318 block goes in for machining tomorrow but I am still trying to piece this thing together. This is my build so far please tell me what you think: '86 318 block would like to bore .020 over if that's all it needs minimum decking just to clean it up stock 302 heads gasket matched...

    Compression with 302 heads??

that's what I was looking for! That high of a compression ratio will probably demand 91 octane fuel won't it?? I'm trying to stay somewhat street-able but have a good running engine for my daily driver as well. thanks for the answers

    Compression with 302 heads??

I'm not really sure my book lists them at 56-65 cc's but that's a BIG area. I guess without that exact piece of info I won't know will I. I'm not going to mill them unless I have to in order to get a good flat surface.

    Compression with 302 heads??

I am building an 86 318 with 302 heads and I was wondering what my compression would be with the 302 heads and the keith black 167 pistons if I didn't zero deck my block??? also what octane should I run with this combo?? thanks

I forgot to mention that I will be installing a 46re tranny with overdrive so that will help the mileage some!

need some help on a 318 build

hey guys I am wanting to rebuild the gutless wonder of a motor in my 1986 dodge w150 truck and crank up the horsepower/torque without killing my fuel mileage. Am I correct in thinking I have 302 heads on this 318?? If so would a standard 3 angle valve job be sufficient machine work?? Also I...
