    Cam selection help please

Your problem isn't with the piston to valve clearance, it's your static compression ratio. If you go to a longer duration cam you will bleed off too much compression and then you actually make less power. Every cam has a suggested static compression ratio. If you go above it your motor will...

    Custom ground camshaft, low power

Yes, and that is why I was thinking the rpm range going up to 6500 is not a great plan.

    Custom ground camshaft, low power

I didn't address your first question...revving to 6500...I'd say yes. The question is, do you need to?

    Custom ground camshaft, low power

They (should) design the cams for the heads, compression, exhaust, intake, vehicle weight, gears and trans type. If you contact Clay Smith they will want all of that info to give you the best cam for your set-up. Generally speaking, upping the lift and/or duration on the exhaust side helps...

    Custom ground camshaft, low power

Man, it's night and day! I will never run a hydraulic again! You should contact Clay Smith in SoCal. Give George your specs and he will get everything you can out of that build and you will only need a cam. No need to change your head gaskets. I can't say enough about how great these people are...

cam and roller rockers off ebay

If I were going to cheap out with the Chinese rockers I would probably use 440source rockers. http://store.440source.com/Rockers-Arms-Shafts-Misc-Hardware/products/50/ The black ones from KMJ are a copy of the steel comps...which suck imo. The Lunati cam should be fine. Which one...

    Lifter noise

and the next engine you build, take the time with a die grinder and remove all casting flash. That is most likely why you can't get the lifter out. It helps with oil drain back too! Desert Rat, call Clay Smith Cams and tell them what you have and he'll tell you what you need! Ask for George...

90' oil filter adapter keeps leaking!

They require quite a bit of torque to seal because of the wide part. If the right amount of torque is applied, it should not leak. No sealant required.:burnout: P.S. A later model car like a late 80's Diplomat used an aluminum adapter. Much lighter than the iron one.

    Compression vs boost question

They had to, they were made to fly at high elevations. I don't know about you, but i'm pretty close to sea level! The aircraft engines were always revving so there was no issue of turbo lag. This is a concern on the street. A motor with decent bottom will spool the turbos quick.

    enough carb?

You will have to play with tuning. A A/F ratio gage is real nice for this.

OK, it's 211/218 at .050" lift, .410"/.425" lift and is a 1000-5000 rpm cam. Me personally, I would rather have the P4452782. it's 228/235 and .429"/.444" and turns idle to 5800.....muscle car repro cam
