    Serious Sheet Metal Opinions

Need a little guidance from some who have "been there, done that". I have removed the entire floorpan from the dart. I welded supports in both doors and crossbraced in the rear seat area. Jackstands just ahead of trans X-member and frame under rear seat area. No glass, drivetrain, front or rear...

    weird question

If I'm not mistaken one of the fiberglass sites (AAR?) has a list of the weight of the FG bumper and the savings in lbs. It sounds like you're wanting to package it. If you don't get a reply soon I'll dig mine out of the barn loft and measure it.

    Glass hood with trim?

Thanks guys. I think it looks good both ways but I'll probably replace mine with new. If my 68 looks half as good as that yellow one I'll be a happy boy. Very nice.

    Glass hood with trim?

Quick question for 67-69 Darts. I was looking at the customer rides on the AAR website. None of the examples had replaced the 3 piece trim on the front of the hood. Are the AAR (or any other) incompatible with the original hood trim? Yes/No/Not Worth It?

68 Dart tail light bucket $$$

Anybody out there have or know of a 67-68-69 Dart shell from which someone would be willing to cut out the LH tail light bucket? If someone can sawzall the quarter and trunk section I'll remove the welds. Shipping would be to 46168. Surface rust OK but I need it nice and solid. If you know of...

    67-68-69 Dart

Here's an easy one for somebody out there. I know the 69 fenders are different in some way from the others. Are the 67 and 68 quarter panels the same except for the marker light holes? I have a 68 and I'm getting new quarters but I don't want the hole. Can I just use 67 quarters?

    Floor pan/ frame connectors

Since I'm going to do both sides I figure the one piece will be a cleaner and easier install. No welding down the center, just the perimeter. I think pan first makes sense. It goes where it goes and if something is in the way it'll have to be altered. I don't necessarily need contoured...

    Floor pan/ frame connectors

Thank you hawkfn18. I checked the article. It mentioniond several other braced areas but was unspecific about where and how. Antone have info on this? I would prefer to do the pan first to avoid a potential interference problem with the connectors. I just don't want the car to bend in half. I'm...

    Floor pan/ frame connectors

Since the floor is essentially the entire supporting structure for the middle of the car and I cut it out first how would I safely support the car while I'm doing it?

    Floor pan/ frame connectors

I'm going to install a one-piece full front floor pan and frame connectors in my 68 street driven Dart. When all is done I'll have maybe 400HP in a small block so I'm not going to twist it in two. I'd like to install the connectors first and then the floor so it doesn't fall apart. Going to weld...

    Anodized grille, bezels

The grille on my 68 Dart is in very nice shape but does show it's age. I need to replace the bezels. Anyone with recommendations (good or bad) on where to get the bezels? Second, I'm anticipating that the new bezels and old grille won't match. Should I attempt the Easy Bake approach and then get...

    Acid dip experience???

Well, I'm now retired and going to build my 1st car. I've learned to benefit from the successes and failures of others if I can. I'm excited at the amount of info on FABO and I appreciate you all sharing your knowledge. No subject is going to get 100% responses on one side or the other but this...

    Acid dip experience???

Actually I think getting rid of the rust is more in line with what I'm wanting to do so I've eliminated dipping. I've read about all sorts of blasting, soda, walnut, sand, plastic, etc. Never done any of them. I know some of the things I'm going to have to do. But I'm sure exposing all the metal...

    68 Dart hood trim

Does anyone know where I can purchase the 3-piece aluminum trim for the front of my hood?

    Acid dip experience???

My motivation is paint/rust removal, not weight reduction. I can note any sealer beforehand in addition to the shop manual which shows a lot (all?) of the sealer locations. I've read in some cases where you're still finding soda residue with the paint gun. However, I've never done any of these...

    Acid dip experience???

Anyone with experience on this? I'm doing my 68 Dart. After installing new front pans and frame connectors I want to have the shell professionally stripped. I haven't looked into cost but chemical stripping would seem likely to get into every nook and cranny and places where particle (media)...
