Thanks everyone for the information. Just couldn't remember and couldn't find anything online. Then light bulb went off and I realized that all I had to do was come here, ask and question would be answered.

Forgot to mention that I have a 65 Dart. So, I guess that the numbers on the two tags have nothing in common?

Had a senior moment!! I am sure that this question has been asked before, and I may have even done so, but I am going to ask again. Are the numbers on the vehicle number tag supposed to match any numbers on the fender tag? If so, which numbers should match up? Decoded my fender tag and...

    VIN Rivets

A friend of mine is thinking of buying 1965 Dart that is in pretty good shape. Owner removed the vin tag from the door pillar when car was repainted. Vin tag is now held in place with sheet metal screws. Checked vin tag using decoder and everything appears to be in order. I know that in 1965...

    Location?

Thanks. I had read that the convertibles had two locations for the VIN. Just wanted to make sure about the hardtop.

    Location?

This question has probably been asked before, but I am going to ask again. I have a 1965 Dodge Dart GT hardtop. Am I correct that there is only one place the VIN number on a hardtop is found and that is on the stainless-steel plate located on the left door hinge pillar post?

    Headlight Buckets

The zinc plating looks pretty good, may have to check into having that done.

    Headlight Buckets

Thanks for the input. It looks like a something was done to them, galvanized, but just wanted to check with members. Was just wondering if anyone had this problem before and what they did to their buckets.

    Headlight Buckets

Removed the headlight bulbs on my 1965 Dart GT and found one bucket to be rusted. Plan on treating the rust and repainting both of them. Looks like they are zinc coated. Is this correct? If so I will go ahead and use a zinc spray paint.

    Is Your Car Shining?

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. Just getting ready to order another bottle of Jax Wax but thought I would check out what was being pushed today. I use a clay bar about once a year and for the past five years or so have used Jax Wax. This past year I began using Bead Maker and have been...

    Is Your Car Shining?

Sorry to say that I do not know much about the paint. Bought it back in 2003 form a guy who lived in South Carolina. He bought the car from a guy in Crosby, Texas. Believe that the car was repainted back around 2000. Car was originally Gold Poly. Anyhow I was going to buy some more wax and...

    Is Your Car Shining?

Needing to get some more stuff to put a shine on my 1965 Dart Gt. Before I buy something I thought I would ask for some suggestions as to what I should buy. Wax, polish, ceramic coating sprays, ceramic wax, or something else. Seems there are so many products out there and so many different...

    1965 DART GT 273 4BBL

Bought a 65 Dart Gt when I was stationed at Dyess Air Force base in Abilene, Texas in 1966. It was used but I really like the looks. Was painted canary yellow with a black vinyl landau roof, Cragar mags, black interior (bucket seats), 4-speed transmission, and a Charger 273. Great little car...

    Remote Oil filter

I have a 1965 Dart and the remote oil filter is mounted under the hood on the right hand finder well just behind the radiator core support. Have it high enough so that I have plenty of clearance to take oil filter off with no problem.

That is the one That is the one I have. The tabs look like they do need to be released. This may be a little more than I can do, this could be something that I can not do. Will give it a try. Not sure about the chromed ribs. Have to figure out something. May be back for some ideas. Thanks...

    Hood Ornament

I have a 1965 Dart GT and have been thinking about trying to take the center hood ornament apart and repainting the inside. I have not been able to find anyone who refurbishes this type of hood ornament, so I thought I would attempt it myself. Has anyone ever done this and have any helpful...

    What Do I Do?

Have been on a couple of sites that decode fender tags and from what I can tell for 1965 AB=31 is Commando 273 V8. Thanks for the help, now know how to read a fender tag.

    What Do I Do?

The numbers on the fender tag and the radiator support match which is nice. The car it self is I think pretty nice. It is a 1965 Dodge Dart GT that is painted aqua with a white vinyl top. Engine: Commando 273 484 lift cam Solid liters 10:1 domed...

I do not have a build sheet for car. Will check for SO number on radiator bracket and let you know what I find out. New at this decoding part of car, something I had not thought of doing even though I have heard of it. Am I wrong for not doing this sooner?

    Wiper Arm Removal

Just finished removing the wiper arms! Instead of pushing the tang up I had to pull it down and then used a screw driver, resting on a plastic scraper, to pry up on the base of the arm right at the shaft. Came off with no problem. Thanks for the help.
