PINKS 4 Wide Drag Racing? What Do You Think?

Problems and all it is still infinitely better than the original Pinks. I always called it "Punks" because all you ever saw on the show were loud-mouthed, dickhead Yo-boys with **** cars. I stopped watching a long time ago and didn't start again until until I saw a thread here about a FABO guy...

PINKS 4 Wide Drag Racing? What Do You Think?

They didn't say it was the first time it had ever been done, they said it was the first time on TV. Anyone with any time in this sport knows that is nothing new.

    cam help

I'll tell you thew same thing I tell anyone who asks about cams. Call Jimmy at Racer Brown. (410) 866-7660. Tell him exactly what you have, exactly what you want to do, and if they don't have the perfect cam for your application they can cut it for you. They even cut the installed position into...

    Stolen Rig And Race Car!!

That is why so many people are deciding that one of the reletaively inexpensive real-time GPS tracking devices and monthly service is a very good idea. With most of them you can go online and by drawing a box on the map you can establish a base area. If your vehicle (or whatever you are...

How can I drop my 60ft.

If you are running solid lifters open up the lash a hundreth or two from what is recommended. It will cost you a small amount of top end power but it will improve your 60ft time.

    Pump Gas RACE motor

Hilarious. Just had some great corn from my father's garden tonight. Would've been a shame to have burned it.

    Pump Gas RACE motor

I have been wanting to try VP but it is freaking $10/gallon around here. Sunoco/CAM2 purple is $7.25.

No, but my street car runs on purple.

    Scca/road Racing

I used to get out there in my GLHS but my A body is a big block car so it corners like a bus.

    Solid Lifters Hydraulic Cam

I have a solid and love it. If you race you can play with the lash a little bit to pick up some E.T. or MPH. Increase the lash by a hundredth or two (no more!) and you effectively make the cam look smaller and increase low-end torque for better 60 foot times. Decrease it by the same amount and...

Your Opinions on My Fuel System?

Oh, and one other thing like Ace mentioned. Remember that your system will only flow as well as its most restrictive component. You can have ½" line, an awesome free-flowing filter, and a great pump, but if you only have a 3/8" pickup in the tank the system will only flow at the rate that pickup...

    750 or 850 cfm?

He will probably be OK with an 850 but you have to be careful. Over-carbing and over-camming are the two most common mistakes in this game. If you go with a carb that is even a little too big the air velocity will never be high enough to pull the max amount of fuel and your mixture will be too...

Your Opinions on My Fuel System?

The only other concerns are having the regulator as close to the carb as possible so it can react immediately to any drop in pressure, having the line to the regulator go to the core support and then turn back toward the regulator so the inertia of acceleration feeds the regulator instead of...

Your Opinions on My Fuel System?

If you have the big bucks, Year One has a replacement sending unit with a ½" pickup tube for like $150.00. I found one at carlisle for less than half that much. Look around.

    750 or 850 cfm?

Absolutely true and one of the most commonly overlooked areas of performance. Running great does not necessarily mean running at full potential. I personally know 2 guys who picked up a tenth or two and several MPH by going to ½" tubing from the tank, through the filter and pump, all the way up...

    racecar fuel delivery

This is exactly correct. You want the line feeding the regulator to come from the front so the inertia of acceleration is feeding the regulator, not starving it, and you want the regulator as close to the carb as possible (preferably on a carb mounting plate) so it can react as quickly as...

How to Race a 4-Speed Car

Ever heard about what happened when Ronnie Sox switched to the Lenco like everyone else had? It slowed him down! He went back to the 4-speed and stayed there.

    What caused this?

I would definitely not stick with the stock 318 pump. My first car was a '74 Satellite Sebring Plus with a 318. I put 360 heads on it, put in a street Hemi grind purple shaft, and topped it off with a 600 Holley on an Edelbrock LD340 dual plane. It fell on it's face right after hitting 3rd gear...

    What caused this?

Leaning out to much greatly raises the temperature in the combustion chamber and can melt anything from plug electrodes to pistons. The good news is that if you had done it you would know. Some good ideas are to install a pump that exceeds what you need and install a pressure regulator...

    What caused this?

With your setup you should not need to go to electric pumps but definitely get a high-volume mechanical before you do any more racing. Leaning out the engine because of fuel starvation can do a lot of damage.

    What caused this?

Sounds like fuel starvation. What has been done to the engine and what does your fuel system consist of? Once you get down into the 12's the car needs a lot of fuel.
