not sure you are fully grasping the internals of that engine... it will be a pig...unless you put 5.13 gear and switch to a stick shift. that engine is designed for a Target rpm range..ie short power curve.. its not gonna pull down low at all... that motor is designed to run in one gear and...

no i fugured that...but "not much faster" must have been a fast jr.? you know i just noticed the heads flow you stated..They flowed to .600".. what did they flow..? do you have a chart.i doubt they moved much air past the .590 mark...so again you might not need to even go that big...

do you have to go .600+ lift ..? I mean are you hung up on that lift..or are you ok with a more aggressive roller that is as tall as your current solid cam..but holds the valves events better... a similar car as your solid for instance in a roller will make more power than what you are now...

check to make sure your timing isnt going way up at high rpm. and giving you detination. pop a 4.30 gear in it... and some slicks and say hello to high 12's pretty much the way it is right now.....

a simple overlooked part on the leafspring set up is rear shackle swing/angle you need ample angle of the shackle so as the spring arches ...the shackle can swing and make up the difference. if you dont have it the spring cant do its job..and all will bind up...giving you the same reaction as...

there are a few things to consider also when you talk about factory rear suspension... these where mass production parts. so mounting points are gonna be in a range..... some guys get lucky with the architecture of there cars..."pot luck" if your planning on using stock rear end set up..it...
