Dumbest newbie thing, you did at the drag strip.....

We went a few times back in the early 80's, when I was a teenager. Started going back in 2008, and the first time I tried to stage the car, I forgot where the staging beams were, and pulled up near even to the tree, then inched up trying to get the car staged. The starter had to come up to my...

    Best setup for 60'

I have a 408 73 Duster, 727 with a 4200 9.5" dynamic convertor. I have KYB's on the front, and SS springs, no snubber, and Mopar long extension shocks on the rear, into a 3.73 Dana. My best 60 times come with stabbing off idle. If I warm up the tires properly, I have no spin, it hooks and...

    M1 SP vs Air Gap

Now that is a compelling thought! Below is a pic of the 340 I have sitting to the side that the stealth came off of. Maybe I am imagining things, but it appears there is more Carbon build up on the middle 2 (lower plenum) cylinders than on the outer 2 (upper plenum). Thoughts on that?

    M1 SP vs Air Gap

Well, got the swap from the M1 Single to the Weiand Stealth 8007. Also, last time at the strip I ran the Holley DP with Proform center on the M1. This time, it was the 850 TQ on the Stealth. I was having Carb issues last time out with the Holley, it was spitting full out of the front vent...

    M1 SP vs Air Gap

Hope I am not highjacking the thread, not my intention, Moparmal! I would have though mine would rev higher as well, but I'm lacking cam from what I've been told. I played aroung with shift point, launch rpm and timing, and found the best combo (with old TCI 3000 stall and Holley 750) was...

    M1 SP vs Air Gap

FWIW, I did a chassi dyno test last year at the Mopar So Classic, and torque peaked at 4400, and HP peaked at 5400.

    M1 SP vs Air Gap

Guess I'll chip in a question along the same line. I have a 408 stroker, 9.6:1 236/[email protected] .544 cam, hooker comps 1 5/8" into 3" exhaust, edel heads, 4000 dynamic 9.5" into 3.73 dana. Currently running a M1 single plane, Best time of 12.26 @ 109, 1.67 60' with slicks. Best time comes when...

    my last pass

Numbers look almost identical to my 408 stroked Duster using 275-50-17 street radials into a dana 3.73 rear. When I bolt on the slicks at the track, they are good for 1/2 second in the 1/4, and about 2/10ths on the 60 foot. My best time is 1.673, [email protected], [email protected].

    Small block Strokers

Tell us more - details, carb details (who built it for you), mpg? I was skeptical of the TQ, and have not been too successful messing with them.

    Small block Strokers

I would think the difference between our 60' times is the convertor and gear, and your superior lsunching skills. My best thusfar is 1.67, and I've read that 1/10 on the 60' is good for 2/10's on the quarter. So, if I figure right, if I geared and stalled like yours, I may get to 12.0 from...

    Small block Strokers

Youse guys are running a lot more cam than I am! I'm 236/242 @0.050" comp xtreme hydraulic roller, but it's mostly a street car. I may have compromised too much to get my 10" vacuum at idle in gear at 800 rpm. Is yours a street car? What does it idle at, vacuum, etc? What is you 60' time?

    Small block Strokers

Man, that's screamin! I have an original 73 340 Duster, that now has a 9.6:1 Edel headed 408, 236/242 .544/.541 Hyd Roller, Holley 750 DP with a proform center on a M1, with Hooker Comps & 3" exhaust. Est 450 crank horsepower. It's backed by a 727 with 3000 stall, and 3.73 in a Dana, strip is...
