'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Small update, got some more parts in. As I believe I mentioned before, I am mainly just gathering parts before I start the the disassembly & modifications for a V-8, etc. that way I can make it a fairly quick process when I get started on it. Thanks to Mr. DionR (another FABO member) I now...

LSx Valiant Build. Take a look inside...

Looks awesome! Would love to see the finished product. Oh, & don't feel alone, I catch flak for prepping my '63 to put an AMC 390 in it. Main reason, already had the motor, other reason .... for the unique factor. Look forward to watching your build

"rusty ol cuda" nightmare on any street wheelstander project

Lookin awesome as always Waggs  Outright radical :D By the way, how many gallons does that tank hold? I know you don't need more than probably 3 to 5 gallons to get down the track & back around, but just curious.

Well, got some of the waterproof OEM style wire connectors in

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Another thing that is kinda funny. If I read the fender tag right, it shows to be a V-100, but the rest of the car shows that it is a V-200. I'll run the numbers on the engine that is in it this weekend to find out if it is a 170 or 225. Here's the fender tag:

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Small update, new windshield gasket & chrome retaining strip came in from Classic Industries for when I put the windshield back in. Right now I am debating on going ahead & putting in a complete aftermarket wiring harness along with new fuse/relay box while I have the dashboard out. I probably...

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

For now, I'm gonna go with the 325 HP AMC 292 with matching transmission that a close friend gave me, I will do it all as bolt in, no welding to the frame to make it work. Eventually I plan to build a Mopar 360 roller motor for it. Is there any way around pulling the windshield?

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Ok, here's a few pics of pulling the gauge bezel: Here's a few pics of the trunk area as it sits right now as well:

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Well, I've made a little progress on the car itself. Got the steering column dropped & pulled the gauge bezel out, & sure enough the gauge bezel voltage regular was bad, which is I'm sure why the stock gauges weren't working. I'm building a little solid state regulator to put back in so I don't...

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Thanks FZMAX, that was one of the things I thought about as well, don't have to modify the firewall to drop it in. I think it will be neat, plus I'm not going to be welding new mounts on the frame or anything like that, going to go all bolt on custom mounts, etc.

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Thanks Bomber, I really appreciate your input on the threads I've put out there. Now, gonna take an interesting turn on this project. Now, before I explain the interesting left turn I'm going to take on this, I am still going to build the 360 roller motor & build the crap out of a 904 that I'm...

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Thanks PettyBluDart! My first plan of action is to take care of the poor dash / charging system wiring circuit that goes through the Ammeter. I will put in a central power buss for the gauges, lights, etc. then install a volt meter instead of an Ammeter

'63 Valiant - Hot Rod Transformation

Well, you all have seen my various threads asking questions about engine & drive-train combos for this build, so I saw it would be fit to start the actual build thread for this car. As explained in more detail in my intro thread, my wife & I decided to build a hot rod that you don't see out...

Very interesting! I love the idea, & builds like this. I always give extra credit to those who like to think outside the box.
