...for the most part. We've got a couple of minor interior issues to iron out, double check fluid levels and the like, maybe a little carb adjustment, and we're ready to roll. I'll get plates on her this week and give her a good shake down before we drive to Columbus for the Nationals next...

...to being ready to drive. We still have to install the exhaust, interior, and glass. It's a foot race, gotta be done in time to drive to the Nats in Columbus.

We got a ton of work done this weekend. Between Friday night and Saturday we got the entire car blocked out in 400 grit and then re-masked the car at the radius blends between the body and the door jambs, etc. Sunday the car was wiped down with wax and grease remover (four times at least) then...

Over the last couple of weeks we finished the body work, got one more coat of filler primer on the car, got the whole car sanded in 320 grit, remasked everything, and sprayed the jambs, rockers, etc. with sealer, color, and clear. This week we'll tape lines at the radius blends where we shot...

We used 1/2" tube because we figured it wouldn't interfere with the head liner but still be fairly rigid. There were two braces added, the one that is being welded in the photo and you can see the other just to the right (towards the rear of the car). We did our best to bend the tubes to match...

We're in the process of blocking out the Valiant for one more coat of filler primer before sealer and paint. It seems the car was dented on the roof and the material was so flimsy it would not be sanded flat...we decided to weld in some 1/2" square tube to stiffen it up. That seems to have done...

The motor, transmission, shifter, and drive shaft all went in pretty smoothly. We got some additional wiring and plumbing done (had to use a temporary radiator from my friend's Duster) and got the car running. Fun. It's got a pretty aggressive cam, sounds snotty as hell under high revs and has...

They are period-correct valve covers for the Commando 273. I bought an old set from a FABO member and refinished them. And thanks, they did turn out nice.

Thanks, man. I'll get some more comprehensive pics when the bell housing / tranny / etc. are buttoned up.

Thanks Uli. I'll have some more photos soon. The motor and transmission are in the car and we should have it runnng within a couple of weeks.

It was a good week at the S & M Shop... We got the rest of the engine parts back from the speed shop and had the rotating assembly all built by mid-week. By the weekend we were working on the top end, the deck height and cam orientation were double checked, no surprises there. The rest of the...

Since I last posted we've finished all of the interior wiring and all of the under-hood electricals that can be done without the engine in the car. The dash trim was cleaned up or refinished as needed and most of the dash reassembled along with the accessory gages. All of the brake and fuel...

Uli - We eliminated all of the original wiring and bought a 12 circuit Painless harness (about $300 from Summit Racing). They cost a little bit but are well worth the money. It is not an extremely complicated job but it would definitely help to work with someone who knows what they are doing...

Thanks for the compliment. The Barracuda looks great, love the color. As far as location, we're actually building the car at my friend's shop near Oconomowoc.

Got the dash partially rebuilt and installed in the car, steering column installed, and started wiring. The steering wheel needs some minor repair and paint, should work out nicely. Next on the list are the brakes and associated plumbing / linkage and then on to the fuel system.

On the mechanical side of things... - All of the front suspension components and K-member are blasted, prepped, and painted. Everything is re-assembled out to the spindles (thanks Waggin!). - We added an anti-sway bar, Craig did a marvelous job fabricating mounting brackets. - We...

We've gotten a lot done since last updates... - Interior floors prepped and painted - Trunk surfaces prepped and speckle-painted - Dash stripped, prepped, and painted...should look great with the chrome trim and pad in place - The major body work is done and the whole car is in filler...

The body work continues... We found a couple of surprises, a little fender rust, some rot in the rear valence panel, and a drip rail that rotted thru. No major catastrophies, just some additional time, effort, weld, and filler. The door jambs, interior door surfaces, deck lid drip rail, and...

I appreciate the compliment, but it's more like I hang around with people who know what they're doing. The boys at The S & M Shop have been a huge help.

We've got pretty much the whole car in filler primer and ready to block out. Been too busy to format / upload pics...hopefully will have some updates this weekend. Thanks for the interest.

The color code is FK5. It's a 1970 (I'm told) Plymouth color, 'deep burnt orange metallic'. It looks a lot better without all the clear-coat haze in the air.

Since I last posted we’ve made a little headway… The entire front end suspension has been removed from the car and the components (that are not being replaced) are in the process of being sand blasted and otherwise readied for repaint. The underbody has been cleaned, prepped, and painted from...

So, I’ve been kicking around on FABO for about a year now and I finally (just before Mopar Nationals) got my car into the shop. To this point the car’s been in storage and I’ve been able to take inventory (the car was a basket when I bought it), do some disassembly, cleaning, painting, and...
