    Damper compatibility

Thanks Brandon. What about if I forget about the 440. Can I use the same balancer for all the slants form let's say from 1970 up to 1986. I know that there was a forged crank and a cast crank I know that there are some differences. Aside from the timing marks could a damper be swapped from a...

    oops I did it again

Ok guys so how should I go about this? Usually when this happens to me I'm making something stupid so I either start over from scratch or I abandon the project. This time I'm hell bent on fixing this. So my dad never showed me how to get a broken tap out. Since you all are like surrogate fathers...

    broken exhaust studs

I'm just about to start fixing the same thing, although I only have 1 stud (so far) that I'm going to have to drill out. One question I have is where do I find the brass washers for securing the manifolds to the head. I'm replacing all the studs (including the ones in the head) and all the...

replacing all vacuum lines under the hood

This weekend I plan to replace all the vacuum lines under the hood. Does anyone happen to know what size or sizes I need to buy and how much. The car is a 72 dart w/ac and a slant six. I don't want to remove anything until I'm ready to replace. Also is it worth it to buy silicone vacuum hoses...

    filter less oil pump?

Thanks kid. I was hoping to do it without any adapter. I wonder if anyone has cut off the part of the oil pump where the filter screws on and threaded it to accept lines. Sometimes I have a tendency to over think things. I just would prefer to do it with no adaptors.

    rebuilding a rebuilt slant

Thanks Charlie_S, that's what I thought about the trans the motor I am working on is a rebuilt that was never run. It is a hydraulic cam motor but like I mentioned above I could've been built for a forklift for all I know. I bought it because most of the machine work has already been done and...

    rebuilding a rebuilt slant

I plan on driving the car ad much ad possible. Right now it's a daily driver, when I was younger the motors I built with my dad were real conservative. He was all about building something practical, smoothly idle, good cold starts, nothing with headers. Now it's my turn to build a lumpy rough...

    rebuilding a rebuilt slant

Ok so I did some looking Clifford has a few cams 2 of which they say are for manual trans. only... I spoke with a guy from Clifford and he said that with the bigger cams the motor wouldn't create enough vacuum to shift the trans....Is this right? I don’t remember any vacuum lines going to...

    rebuilding a rebuilt slant

chj, I'm guessing that you mean billet timing chain gear set? Also I didn't catch the 35 -75 (3/4 Race as they were known in the day) reference. Could you please elaborate a little? BillGrissom, when I bought the engine I just assumed that it was either a car or truck motor from a smaller...

    rebuilding a rebuilt slant

I recently purchased a rebuilt slant with the intention of just dropping it in my 72 swinger. After thinking it over I have no idea what it was built for. *I purchased it from a parts re builder in Michigan and they don't rebuild engines. They acquired several of them in a surplus deal. The...

    74 Duster won't start

I just had the same issue with my 72 dart. When it got cold out it seemed like I had to find a sweet spot in the shifter selector until this morning which there was no more sweet spot. I read in another post to bypass the neutral safety switch by jumping one of the pins on the starter relay to...
