    400 stroker

Anybody know of anyone putting one in an early-A body, like say a 66 fish? I would love to see some pics of that. I am building one and have the crank fitted already and she is going in to be bored next. Stroker pistons 10 to 1 and some alluminum heads and there is a 450+ HP fun machine...

Ok, I understand what you are saying about stroke, What does rod length effect then? Compression? Cylinder mixture volume? Piston size? I am curious why all the choices of rod length would matter?

Is 6.760 stock 440 length or shorter, say the length of a BBC rod? I have stock heads and 440 rods so I am thinking the diamond 4.3750 and am looking for 10.5 to one with stock head chamber (452's w/2:14 intake)(88cc? I think) and I have been leaning toward a roller cam. I would think they...

The blk is a 4006530-400-3, I am thinking the bore was around the 4.325 or very close to it. I can find out for sure. I can get the .30 in the 400 in KB forged here in town for $509, 440 source wants $546. I am open to any and all suggestions on piston choice. I want a good strong piston but...

Is the tube K member set up for Rack & pinion steering? Ok guys, I understand about the .30 over but .30 over what? The 400 bore is bigger than the 440 right out of the factory, do I go to .30 over in the 400 #'s or go .30 over in the 440 #'s which would be just a little more than what I...

Me too, My blk checked out good, now I have a question. It has up to 12000 tapper in one cylinder, most are lower around 8000. If I go .30 over, am I ordering .30 over 440 or .30 over 400?They are wanting to know how much to punch it out to and I am not sure. What do you guys think? The...

    Conversion Oil Pan

We have 7 of the right pans which we have used 2 successfully and I think they are 189 pans not 187. They have a large indentation in the bottom. I'll find out for sure and get pics tomorrow if you guys want.

Anybody use any of those new stealth heads from 440 source? How limited are you with the stock heads? Saying that the gearing and everything else is right, what kind of performance would you expect? 14's?13's? High 12's? I am just trying to make the best decisions were my money goes these days.

Daredevil, how bad spendy are those heads , real bad? I have read some about them and they sound pretty cool. I guess I have always figured that BB are the beasts and I have mostly had SB cars and am always getting spanked in the stock world by BB's plus being a Missourian requires me by...

Well said 68383GTS, that pretty much says it all! I am going to start out with a 451-stock heads but bigger valves. I plan on adding on later considering it seems the way to go. Probly stealth heads, MSD ignition and maybe a pro-charger eventually but I understand you have to build the engine...

I am figuring out that the big big difference is in the amount of rotating wieght and thats using 440 parts, it's alot more drastic with the aftermarket kits. I think because of deck hieght being lower, you able to run alot lighter smaller piston (1930 grs.lighter ea) plus a more stiffer block...

Can you change all the spark plugs with those headers? Won't schumacker tri-y's fit?

So you want 2 go Big block...Read this first!

You can still get a duster deuled up here from the headers back with flowmasters, 2 1/2" pipe out the back for $350 to $400 bucks. The flowmasters are $160 of it. I agree longgone (and everybody) I wouldn't think about hotroding say a dart without totaly going with the best brakes and...

I too am starting a 451 build, I was thinking along the same lines camwise as you so I am curious about what he said. I was planning the same type of build, 906 heads ported and polished, tri-y's, stock 440 rods, eagle balanced crank, 789DD on a weiand big single plane. Same gearing with a...

    400 (451) in '68 valaint????

Ya, very sweet ride, thats probly an alterkation unit or something huh? Very clean but alot more room than with say a power steering unit and stock K frame (spool even) but it can be done. The duster I worked on with a 440 is very snug and a few heating problems because of the tightness but we...
