Anyone running aftermarket A/C with their Hemi swap?

I'm using a Southern Rods Maxi Kooler II. I just bought the heat and air unit from them. I'm using the drivers side Hemi compressor and a Bouchlon install kit for all the lines, dryer, condenser and fittings. Car blows 30 degree air and will absolutely freeze you out! I'm very impressed!!

Tremec TR6060 Six speed Hemi Swap

I made a sheet metal dust cover with two louvers in it for heat for the original bell. I bought a scatter shield later and it is completely enclosed so no shield necessary.

    392 in a 70 Duster

I dont think the 6.4 will let you drop the body down over it without firewall work. The 6.1 has more clearance in the back. It's a little tricky with the alternator by the frame rail but you can just lower the car over the engine once you clearance your firewall. You might take your intake off...

    Oil pick up

Hey..... I've got one of those "drinking" pickup tubes as well. I ordered the early pickup on my first go around and I still have it. I thought about putting an early 5.7 in my 70 Charger just so i could use that pickup tube. LOL

    392 in a 70 Duster

To be honest with you..... I just noticed that a lot of other people were using the Driveshaft shop on thier swaps so I just went with it. I knew that it would be a strong lightweight shaft and it was easy. HOWEVER.... it wasn't cheap! The local driveshaft shop can make you a shaft using a 4wd...

    392 in a 70 Duster

I used a Driveshaft shop conversation. It has a round aluminum adapter. The adapter is about as big as the steel yoke on the transmission. BTW, if you use this setup, make sure that you line up the blue lines when you put it together and you won't have to to it twice. lol Here are a couple of...

    392 in a 70 Duster

Will you have room in your tunnel for the driveshaft adapter? It' hard to tell from pics but you may have to expand you driveshaft tunnel upward. Just something to consider. EDIT: I just looked at mine and yours looks about the same hight. I guess I did expand my tunnel a little... I just forgot...

Looks great. I should've took more pics when I was building my trans mount but so far it looks like the same process. I've got a few miles on mine and a few hard launches. So far everything is still in one piece.

    6.1 Hemi into 72 Demon March 2018

Get you some strong poster board type cardboard and duct tape. You can basically make the fenders that way to be sure that's the look you want. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper to waste some paper and know for sure before you start buying building materials. Good ol "envisioning" tools in the...

    6.1 Hemi into 72 Demon March 2018

I'm thinking that with the square body lines that you would want to go more "wide body" than flares. You know, widen the hips and fenders. Think IMSA style maybe. Just a thought.

    T-56 Transmission Install Thread

Looks like I keep messing up and you get to keep correcting me. I could've swore I read that it was a new trans. Once again.... I guess I should pay more attention or just quit replying to stuff that I obviously know nothing about.

Awesome. Glad you figured that one out. You expect new stuff to work like NEW STUFF! Not always the case.

    6.1 Hemi into 72 Demon March 2018

It is universal but it is a very easy box to fit in. You won' need the hole in the firewall for your blower motor anymore as it is contained in the box. All you need is a spot for your heater and A/C hoses to enter once you figure out where you want the box. I ran mine up in the wheel well to...

    T-56 Transmission Install Thread

Mine dosent go into gear very easy when it is sitting still but it does shift easier when it is rolling. If it's not going into gear at all..... who knows. I'm sure you already pulled the shifter to see if everything looked good. I do know that my retrofit TR6060 shifter had to be shimed...

    T-56 Transmission Install Thread

OK.... I hate to admit this and it is going to be a long read but here it goes.... I drove my car out of my shop back in December to go to the upholstery shop. I came off of my four post rack and out the door which is slightly down hill so that didn't put very much strain on my clutch. This was...

    6.1 Hemi into 72 Demon March 2018

I'm not sure if this was directed at me or not but I'm using a manual rack and the Challenger compressor with a after market Southern Air heat/air box.

My trans crossmember is very simular to yours but my side crossmember bolts have urethane bushings much like the motor mounts. Just food for thought.

My Aussie has a collar that says Hemi and looks like an old seatbelt. I didn't name him Hemi because my sisters dog already had that name. LOL

    6.1 Hemi into 72 Demon March 2018

I gotta say.... TTI definitely hit a home run with thier HDK / A-body headers. When I did my Demon I was expecting the worst but they fit like a glove!! Progress looks great!
  22. Dragger40

    Header Question

Yeah. Passenger side starter. As far as insight goes.... all I know is what I said in the above post. You cant go wrong with a Hemi Denny K and TTI headers. You will have to do some transmission tunnel work and make a trans mount but other than that, it's not a bad job. The 6.1 is easier to fit...

    6.1 Hemi into 72 Demon March 2018

I did the same swap. Same motor, trans and K member. Denny's setup makes the job easier. Good to see another Hemi A-body club member. Have fun and take care of that knee!!

Original pedal to drive by wire

I did the same thing. A triangular bracket is all you need. I also saved the brake and clutch pedal pads from the same car.
  25. Dragger40

    Header Question

I don't know that any other brand is going to make it as easy as TTI did for me. They asked what I was using and made the headers for my setup. I have zero issues. Not a header ding one! I know TTI headers get a bad rap but trying to save a couple hundred dollars can create a couple thousand in...

    T-56 Transmission Install Thread

The way I understand it.... the Magnum is the "universal" aftermarket version of the TR6060. They have a speedo output, different mounting / shifter positions but other than that they are the same basic trans. I have heard people say that one version or the other is tougher but I really don' know.

When I bled my (stock challenger) master, I wasn't getting any pedal either. I read online somewhere that you may have to pump the pedal a couple hundred times to get any pressure. I think I pumped the pedal about 150 times before I got any pressure but I did finally get it to bleed!

    Non-Abody: '72 Cuda, 5.7L Hemi, T56 Magnum

Like I said, after talking with Wilwood and a couple other people.... it was determined that 15/16 was probably the best choice but who knows until I drive it. I wasn't really planning on driving my car anytime soon as the season is almost over and I still have a few things I need/want to do to...

    Non-Abody: '72 Cuda, 5.7L Hemi, T56 Magnum

No. I was mistaken when I told you that my master was a 7/8. I was originally thinking that I would need a 7/8 but after talking with Wilwood, we agreed that I would probably need a 15/16. I forgot about that and after I talked with you I looked at mine and realized that's what I had. I guess I...
