    A-Body tank filler necks

To add to this, early A's had a smaller diameter filler neck.

    fuel sender question

I wonder how many safety freaks would crap their pants if they knew that there was an uninsulated wire with electricity flowing through it inside their gas tanks!

    Air cleaner questions

There is also a filter called a Kool Blue filter. Similar to a K&N. The pics I've seen look like they might not have as many pleats as the K&N though. They're available on eBay. I saw a 6 pack element for about $35 delivered.

    Fast Idle Stop Solenoids

That's exactly what I was wanting one for. Hoping to use it (if necessary) to prevent run-on with crap fuel. Of course, the simple thing would be to pop the clutch in gear. :-D

    Fast Idle Stop Solenoids

Where do you buy the repops? I haven't really been looking. Just want to get something because I anticipate some problems with the gas we have these days & high temps during the summer. I could make just about anything work. If somebody needs this because it's number matching or something...

Carb lines - Just for fun

They're probably rare. I bought these back in the late 1970's. I don't think you could get the factory carbs back then. If you could I know I couldn't have afforded them. You'd probably cry if I told you what I paid for the ones I have. But a dollar went a lot further back then. The carbs...

Carb lines - Just for fun

I just happen to have a brand new set of those carbs sitting in my shop. I'll be interested to see how they work out for you. Did you make your own linkage or is that some type of kit? What are you going to use for an air cleaner? I've got a set of the stock 340 style six pack carbs I'm...

    Another Carb Recommendation

Six Pack! 355 cfm center carb for crisp throttle response. Over 1300 cfm available at WOT, no choking off of top end power. But then, I might be just a LITTL BIT biased. :tongue1:

auto shut off dumps gas on the side

Do they let you pump your own gas in New Jersey? IIRC, when I drove from Maryland to NYC, it was in New Jersey where they didn't have self-serve gas. That was back in 1994.

auto shut off dumps gas on the side

I've come across those PITA boots in states besides California. Never been to California at all. I know when I lived in Maryland over 15 years ago they had them. Seems like some of the other east cost states might have had them too.

auto shut off dumps gas on the side

I saw a pic of the conversion for the early A. Don't know if Layson's does something similar for the later cars or not. Best I can recall, the conversion was basically some sort of washer with a smaller diameter hole welded into the fuel filler neck a little ways down from the opening. There...

Finally a Four Barrel, I got questions!

I always liked Berryman ChemDip back in the day. Don't know if you can still get it or not. DON'T spill it in a small room! Ask me how I know!

    Throttle linkage

Yeah, & it's a lot cheaper than $67 worth of Lokar stuff.

    Fuel Line questions and issues...

If you unplugged the line that originally went to the charcoal cannister it might work as a vent. Seems like the easiest solution if the line is still on the car. You might put a plastic vent cover on it like is used on transmission, axle & transfer case vents on 4wd vehicles.

Empty Fuel Cell Symptoms on a full tank!

    Thermoquad Secondaries

Been a long time since I looked at a Thermoquad so this is just a shot in the dark. Is it possible the air flapper is hitting the lid on the air cleaner?

How similar are the Carter AVS and TQ?

Don't know many of the answers but do know the AVS has the PCV hookup. At least the one I have from 1969 does. I think the AVS was on the way out when EGR came in.

    Carter Carb ID

Thanks! Where do you look this stuff up? If you can't tell me, that's fine. I wouldn't want you to have to kill me! :-D

    Carter Carb ID

I looked in the tech archives & did some searching on the web but couldn't find what I was looking for. Is there a chart somewhere that IDs Carter carbs? I have a couple here that I want to check what they came on. I THINK I know but would like to be sure. Can anybody here tell me what...

Small Block Carb and intake ?

The Commando motor also had a cast iron or steel (not sure which it is) Prest-O-Lite dual point distributor. At least, I know the 65 models had it. I've got one I took off of a 65 Commando motor.

Small Block Carb and intake ?

Don't think you'll need any spacer. The carb that originally came on the factory 273 commando motors was a Carter which is the same as the Edelbrock. As long as you get a square bore carb you should be okay. Back in the day when I rebuilt my 273 2 barrel & added a cam & 4 barrel Carter...

    Fuel spillage

Laysons has a fix for it. They weld a piece of metal in the neck & supply a removeable plug that fits in it. Kinda' expensive. Do a search for posts by Rick at Laysons (not sure of his exact screen name). He posted some pics of it a while back. You might be able to do something similar on...

    500 vs 600

If your friend swaps carbs maybe he'll let you try the carb on your car before you buy it. Then you can see if it helps you any. My friends & I used to swap carbs around all of the time back in the day (30+ years ago). I probably used 4 0r 5 different carbs on my 273. Finally settled on a...

    Fresh Air !

This was one of the first mods I did to my car after I bought it (in 1974). Used parts were available everywhere. My car still had a 2 barrel carb then. I just cut the snorkel off of another air cleaner & grafted it onto the original air cleaner. Then I turned it so they both pointed to the...

    Fresh Air !

Hope this works out OK. I did the same thing with my car 30+ years ago but had to take it off because it filled the inside of the car with gasoline fumes. My carb was in pretty bad shape at the time.

    Air cleaner

I think one from a Thermoquad would work. Pretty sure it has a 5 1/8" neck. Don't remember about the size of the neck on the AVS carbs. Been too long since I messed with one.
