    Brazilian Mopar

Looking good and making progress, Andre. Would you do me/us a favor and take a close up photo of the front quarter panel to show the Dart decal? I don't think I've ever seen that before, and was curious as to what it looked like.

And a big Ditto for what JD said.

    Subframe Connectors, just do it!

X2. That's what's now on my Dart, and worked very well.

Firm Feel UCA's Small Ball Joint pics and review.

Nice writeup on these. I just had them rebuild my steering box, and am looking forward to experiencing the difference in handling.

RGR that, I went with Firm Feel's Stage 2 for the Dart.

Can I ask where you got your box rebuilt?

    Rant: Poor Customer Service

RGR that; my searching failed to find them but I was focused on the bearing primarily, so that may have been why.

    Rant: Poor Customer Service

One was the steering column bearing (looks like a doughnut) which fits up inside the tunnel/shaft through the firewall where the steering column comes through into the engine compartment and "centers" the column in the middle of the tunnel/shaft. The other was the rebuild kit which has new...

    Rant: Poor Customer Service

Well, despite having dealt with the unpleasant Phone Crone I did get the correct steering parts for the Dart, amazingly enough. Shipping was quick and we'll be able to move forward and put the Blue Beast back together again. What was discouraging was the fact that I couldn't find another...

    Rant: Poor Customer Service

Any of my fellow FABO Members deal with these guys before? Jim's Auto Parts 40 Lowell Rd Rt. 38 Salem, NH 03079 Phone (603) 898-0535 I called up there yesterday about buying several steering components and practically begged to speak with a Service Tech, but had some woman who...

Steering Parts breakdown for 1971 Dart

That turned the trick; the exploded parts view from the PDF file showed exactly what I was looking for which was missing. Thanks again and thanks to ABodyJoe for the original work & post.

Steering Parts breakdown for 1971 Dart

Checked the entire service manual PDF file and cannot find any references to steering or steering column, even when doing a text search through the PDF. Suggestions?

Steering Parts breakdown for 1971 Dart

Does anyone have a good itemized parts list/breakdown for the steering column area above where it exits through the firewall and down to where it attaches to the the steering box of a 1971 Dodge Dart GT? We're putting my Dart GT back together and when I bought the car and up until now when all...

    torsion bars

There is no front or rear to them as far as I am aware. I've replaced the stock ones in my '71 Dart GT which came originally with a 318 with big block torsion bars and it made a real difference in the handling. After I was all finished with the height adjustment I had the front end aligned and...

LOL, thanks, Guys. I've been told that before. It helps me when I have public speaking presentations; I usually don't need the public addresss system.

    Torsion bar Removal Technique

That sounds like an exact match for the tool I bought, except for the material used.

    Torsion bar Removal Technique

Nice solution to a PITA problem. I bought the removal tool for $35.00 and it worked like a charm; your solution was less expensive and involved less pounding with a hammer than mine did, well done.

    Torsion bar slots.

Okay, I think I'm on the same page with you. I would guess the control arm (which the adjustment bolt pushes up on to raise or lower the front end and has the front hex opening into which the front of the torsion bar fits) just needs to be rotated to match the other/passenger side. You'll have...

    Torsion bar slots.

It sounds as though when you slid them in to the front slots the Driver's side cam (which has the hex opening the front of the Torsion Bar slides into and the adjustment bolts goes up and pushes on) was rotated differently than the Passenger side. I did the same thing when I swapped mine out...
