I suppose it all depends in what climate/weather condition they have been in. The tires I have on my Duster are BFG's from mid 80's, and they don't lose air, not dry rotted/cracked. If there's any sign of dryness on them, don't chance it, get cheap used ones to get you home safely.

I've never owned a pair (Kumho), but I've driven a ^^a'stang SVT with a set of them on it, and I drove that car regularly. These were low profile and they were sticky, that car felt like it was on rails. Even off a dead stop with no tire warm up they gripped really good.

I was just on their site earlier, looking for 4" bolt pattern on a 15" rim, and they have them, but only in a 6" wide :wack:.

I'll look into it, one of our club members manages a tire store. I personally haven't seen any with a 7" or more backspace.

I don't know of anyone local to us that would mod. the rims for you (and do a great job), being they are aluminium.

I don't know if this is the best way, but I have an original Polyglass tire (my spare), from 1971. I never used Armorall on it or any other tire cleaner... I simply put a light coat of Petroleum gelly (vaseline) on it every 2-3 years, and it still holds air, I haven't added air to it in...

The date code on most tires and for Good Year can be found by the "DOT" letters, it's a 10 or 12 digit number, the last 3 or last 4 digits are the date of manufacture. 1998 and older are last 3 digits. 2000 and newer are the last 4 digits. They are week/yr format. EX: 3 digit: 236...

I have the opportunity to buy a set (4) of 17" Dakota rims with tires (85% thread). What would be a reasonable price to pay, as I don't want to take advantage of the seller (her husband just passed). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
