Just spread the seam sealer on the seams top and bottom where you can reach both sides. Seam seal what you can and smooth it out and its your personal preference on whether to leave it painted or splatter paint in the trunk

My 72 Scamp has the same problem with leaking, so Im gonna have to tackle this as well.

Just fab one up out of some light wood, carpet it or fiberglass it for a smooth look and put whatever you want in it. I plan on doin this in the near future to my 72 Scamp
