    Header studs or bolts?

On my small block stuff in the past, I've left the factory studs in the front and rear holes in the factory iron heads. Those hit water. The other holes, bolts. Because of twists and bends in the tube, bolts work better. Even on the al-u-minium heads, if you stud the front and back, they can...

    Shuebeck lifters?

Yes, they made solids for Mopar. Not sure if they're still business. Last I heard a few years ago, the ceramic pucks used on the bottoms of the lifters were going bad. I'm sure people with more knowledge will chime in shortly.

    No oil to top end

Possible that a pushrod didn't seat in the rocker correctly? Pushrod coming out and allowing lifter to sling out of the bore? Engine would have ZERO oil pressure then, let alone oil to the top end.

    Turbo'd con-rod preferences?

I would throw those SIR rods right in the frickin garbage. I did a few dirt 360's for a local kid. First one was a 9 to 1 B mod engine. Used those rods to keep the Bob weight down. He broke a rod in that one. No valvetrain issues, definitely no oiling issues. It just flippin broke. He only...

What do you guys think about these heads

They move the intake valve over to get pushrod pinch out of intake port.

How About Building Me A 318

Keep the short block stock. Machine as necessary to keep in spec. Keep your existing heads for the hard seats. Do a good valve job. Run some shorty headers to fit. Spend your money on a GOOD cam to suit the combo you have. I agree with Junkyard on the RV type deal. Fine tune the ignition when...

    Hypothetical 318 Builds

Nice thing about choosing a Mag 5.2/318, is that chances are good that you can just break the glaze in the cylinders and go. Awesome way to keep it cheap and spend money on other parts.

I think the first video posted is a W9 head deal. I seem to remember that video from Moparts forum.

    shimming hydraulic roller lifters solid

For just on the cheap I can see. Wanting to squeeze every last bit? I'm surprised nobody has brought up the MASS difference between the two.

273 rockers on 340 with hydraulic cam

Probably for use with the 273 pushrods. They are actually too long to just throw in with the rockers on a hydro cam.

273 rockers on 340 with hydraulic cam

Crane used to make a specific pushrods for that application.

What AJ said..... Correct shaft shims cross section would have a banana shape, if you will.

    Here we go again

On the intake side, it looks like incoming air is going to ramp up into the guide. Exhaust, looks like air needs a ladder to climb out and slide down the hill out of the port.

Here's a cool little 273/292 build for the 273 guys.

Is the pic actual or a "representation"? Claims to be running a Super Victor intake. That is not. Probably more to the story, but, dyno numbers have been called out too. Good for them for doing the unpopular thing, no matter the outcome.

    Never saw these before.

When you get tossed in the middle of a thousand to win race because that flimsy stock plate and shitty gasket is leaking, 80 bucks is a bargain. DISCLAIMER: I have never actually had many issues with the stock plates with the good, thick Fel Pro gasket. That product definitely has its place.

I would assume the bore be fine yet, too. Just never know. Would be a hell of a deal for someone.

Anyone in Texas need a nice block

I saw this this morning and thought the same thing. It won't last long. Definitely a decent price. Kinda makes ya wonder why so "cheap"? Possibly already maxed out because of bad casting? Who knows......

Magnum heads convert to sbc rockers?

You'll need to use a 1.65 ratio rocker to compensate for the loss of lift when using the Chevy rockers. The PRW rockers that Hughes sells for the Magnum engines are the 1.65.

    Oh dear God! 318 stroker

Because you don't need to. By putting in the early tall compression height piston, it actually comes out of the deck a little. Disclaimer: I speak of Magnum blocks.

Before this goes off the rails because J Fag got involved, to the OP: Do it if you want to. It's your money, your project. Yes, what you want can absolutely be done. I have done it successfully. Because it's sentimental, cost and common sense be damned. There will be nay sayers. " Just do a 360...

    Oh dear God! 318 stroker

Definitely! We actually looked into using gen 3 pistons, but, couldn't come up with an easy/cheap way to make the pin situation work. Never really looked into different bushings. Small Block is .984 Gen 3 Hemi is .945. When we were done shaving the skirts, they looked just like a gen 3 piston.

    Oh dear God! 318 stroker

Also, FWIW, we could have stuck with the factory compression height on the early pistons. They did come out of the hole a touch. With factory Magnum head gasket and head, I think ratio would have been 10 ish. The pistons used were very low hour marine units. This was a mostly used parts build.

    Oh dear God! 318 stroker

Stock 273/318 floaters. The thin beam jobs. Crank was a leftover Mopar Performance piece from Chicago Connection. He inquired about machining a stock 360 crank and got basically the same reply you did. If I remember, no heavy metal used to balance crank. Holes drilled and counterweight shaved a bit.

Your cubic inch requirement means a std. bore, up to .030 bore. Hope you have a Magnum block..... What you ask of can be done. Hope you have friends with machines, you're going to need them. I've done this very engine. If not for thlose friends with machines, it WILL get costly. We started with...
