If it's getting traction you definetly need to step up the launch rpm. My car makes over 700hp and if I launch at 4500 rpm it'll fall on its face. Try launching at 6000 and find the sweet spot from there.

Need more motor specs to choose a cam. Whats the compression. What heads.

I would highly recommend a solid cam over a hydraulic. Much better performance and valve train stability.

I always use full groove main bearings in big block mopars whenever possible.

It's misfiring. If you continue to drive it while its missing then you will destroy your new cat. Anytime the check engine light flashes, that means that it is a misfire. Check to make sure that your plug wires are routed correctly. They have a TSB on that.

The stock forged bottom end should hold up just fine. Just use arp rod and main bolts. I have ran 300 shot with KB hyper pistons with no problems.

I agree with everyone. I ran 275 shot on my old tired stock bottem end 400 for 3 years. I also ran a 300 shot on my 440 for 3 years and I never had any issues. I wouldn't bother with a sniper kit though. I would look for a cheater set up, then you can jet bigger in the future. 100 shot...

I am running a .030" over 440 with 10-1 comp. The cam is a Hughes solid .610/.614 lift with 1.6 Hughes roller rockers. Indy EZ-1 heads and Indy tunnel ram. My question is what carbs would you recomend? I was thinking 2 650 Holley double pumpers but maybe something bigger??? The car is a 74...
