My oil burning pig. Pics too!

I bet its the valve stem guide seals leaking and with no PCV in it the crankcase gas pressure is helping push the oil out the leaky valve stem guide seals. VERY possible the machine work was done and done over sized, (machinist DO make mistakes) so. they're as human as you or I and or the...

Why are 318's low HP and torque?

-My Dad loved the famed 318.......He said the 360 was a gas hog for the power it produced as the 318 was close to it with a bit lower MPG! Thing is, sure the 360 is bigger, and can have more machine work done to it, but the 318 would haul *** as said if built right and get pretty good mileage...

    POLL: 360 magnum or 3.58 stroke 340?

-Just a original type guy, I'm stuck on the ole 340, build it, run it, save the 360 Mag for if and when the 340 might give up (IF at all) just my 2 cents..... Love the old engines, as there are A LOT of 360's around, just to have the 340 to "save" it for yourself...Build the 340 over time, and...

    Sleeving a cylinder pros/cons

I was under then assumption that ALL diesels no matter WHAT they're in are sleeved! I don't recall EVER hearing of a non-sleeved diesel! As for sleeving a V-8 as long as the machine shop doing it is a good one and knows what they're they're doing and you know this to be true not self-claimed...

Why are 318's low HP and torque?

Sadly, i didn't have the camera on me, the next trip, I'll remedy that! Its a pretty good haul from my house to his so... over an hour one way as there is no "easy or fast way" there.....I may be there over the weekend tho, we'll see!

    My 273 Experiment

Everyone builds big block Mopar (HELL, I've got one to build!) and never hear of many doing small block LA Mopar engines, so I say, GO FER IT! Small Block Mopar is better then ANYTHING Brand X.....And the 273 most steer from due to their small size, but they still can rev pretty good! As said...

Why are 318's low HP and torque?

Odd ball here. OK, my Step son lives across the road from a guy I been "scavenging" from, parts etc to see what he all has, in the midst of this, I see a truck frame, nothing on it, just a frame, with a motor, and transmission..... The guy, tells me that its a Ram, with a 318.....SO, I uncover...

    413 motorhome/truck/industrial motor "chat"

OK 'nuff with the 413 Max-Wedge, and the 426 MAX-Wedge.....What I don't get ok is that they had both these motors as wedge motors, then you here people call the 440 a "wedge" now granted, I know and the rest of you as well should know, that the 440 was the largest "stock" motor CID offered to...

    360 crank in a 318 block

Reading along here a bit and in the first couple replies, I was going to say that the 360 crank would wind up putting the pistons out the hole in the top as to make the stroke longer.... I was always under the impression you wanted to shorten the stroke for higher RPMS not lengthen it? BUT then...

    having fun with a 340

I agree with everyone here Devon....I myself, would seriously look into a better block, or well, a BIGGER CID to put a turbo or even blower onto it if its HP you want, its more CID you need. and with larger CID, comes better chances of wehat your trying to achieve with less. In this case more...
