When i ordered axles for my 8 3/4 out of a '67 van,the guy on the other end of the line told me they were the same width as E-body.dont know if that helps you or not.

vent tube a giveaway? i would have thought the shape,and # of bolts were the giveaway.

I would get the correct parts,,,,i bought a converter from someone because they had the same problem,,,,,they ordered a converter for a 904 trans.,,,but the hub was too big for the hole in the end of his crank,,,,it was a 273 crank. I would double check all your parts and get the correct ones...

thanks for the replies. i havent nailed it yet,didnt want to hurt anything if its not already hurt. i used royal purple 75w-140 synthentic,,,could it be too thick,,,maybe try 80w-90?

longone,did you replace the O-ring on the neutral start switch?
