    Remedy for Loose-Fitting Interior Screws?

Insert a narrow zip tie into the hole, start the screw and before driving it all the way in, clip off the zip tie just above the surface. Don’t over tighten it.

Stitching a leather cover on a 69 rallye steering wheel.

I’m sorry Matt, but I don’t recall if you said why you didn’t just buy another wheel that was in better condition. I bought one for a 1968 B body for only $100. Is this an option, instead of trusting such a crumbled and then repaired original wheel? If you post what you’re looking for here...

HAS ANYONE RECOVERD THERE OWN SEATS ?

I did mine. Easy peezy. The install kit probably has the hog rings and pliers. I POR15-ed the frames and made repairs to broken springs. I bought new burlap and wove new wires in it to match the originals. Heat the seat covers in the sun to make them more pliable. Match the factory hog...

I can't find this stupid knob to complete my resto. Will another knob work instead?

Make a mold of a borrowed one and cast a few new ones! Alumilite Corporation I did this for a broken plastic gear and used their high strength plastic to cast a new one. I used the super glued broken one to make the mold. It was just as strong if not stronger than the original gear, because...

    Replacing upholstery

Usually the bottom foam buns are dry rotted as are the burlap pads. Plan on replacing both. Put the steel bolsters into the burlap like the originals had if you want them to perform like the originals. Plus silicone spray on the back bun will allow you to slip on the cover without the trash...

Blast Masters! I need your help.

I think I would try lye first, like the original formula in Easy Off oven cleaner. I don't think it will harm plastic.

    ModTop on my Duster

You can protect a vinyl top from UV deterioration by using 303 Protectant: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YJQE0S/?tag=joeychgo-20 Their motto is "it's like sunblock for your stuff". Use it anywhere you would use Armor All, though this is a better product as far as I'm concerned. I still think a...

Glove box No Key Can't Open

These locks are easy to pick with a bent up paper clip and small flat blade screwdriver. Keep a slight pressure turning with the screwdriver while sliding the ridged paper lip in and out. Check you tube for tips. YouTube also will show you how to easily make a "bump" key with a blank and a file.

    Replacing dash light bulbs

Do you have a cracked circuit board behind the cluster? If so, then solder a jumper(s) over the crack to fix it. Could also be a broken pin on the circuit card. This advice does not apply to the shifter indicator light though.

    Resetting Odometer to 000000

Ditto for me. Very easy to do if you don't have "sausage fingers" and you can be careful and gentle. I did mine to show all zeroes at the time my major resto, engine, trans and rear were completed. I figured that this brought the car back as close to day one as ever. Besides, when I bought...

Taking on water in the interior

Yes, yes and yes. You may have water coming in thru a rust hole in the sub-cowl area, but it is more likely that you just need new seals at the wiper posts. The kits cost about $25 and can be installed with minimal skills by following the instructions. As for windshield gasket leaks, yes rust...

    Dashboard overhaul

It's not likely that all of your gauges are broken. It would be a rare event for that to happen. It's more likely that either the circuit card for the dash is damaged, or the main wire harness plug is not making good contact. Another thing to check is the voltage limiter, that's the device...

    another console idea

Nice job Red67! Here are a few photos of something I whipped up a few months ago. I wanted an armrest built into it plus I wanted two cupholders. I found the perfect donor on Ebay (Volvo) and then fabbed a pedestal from a 4x4 and covered it in black vinyl. I used Velcro to stick it in place...
