    NOS sending unit doesn't work

Don't condemn any product without knowing what it can do beforehand my friend. See the screen capture above and you'll see that MeterMatch has two additional set points that can be used to make adjustments for non-uniform tank profiles.

    Leaking gas tank question

Yes, you could temporarily seal up all the holes in the new tank with tape and plastic. Then blow some air into it at low pressure while another person is spraying a solution of water and liquid dish soap all over the tank. Look for bubbles to show up on all surfaces. No bubbles? Then it's a...

I used the Eastwood kit. Buy Muriatic acid. Seal the sending unit and filler holes. Pour 1 gallon acid in the tank and agitate/rotate for a bit. Drain and rinse. Dry and apply the sealer. 14 years later and still great!

How to get the nuts/screws? out

Try to grab them from inside the trunk with vice grips. They should be fairly loose to start with. They are called Trident screws. I'm not sure, but I think they are #10. They might be #6 too. Here is a link to the #10 installation tool for $8.51...

    Fuel gauge limiter

You're trying to get power from a ground wire??? Remember that the wire to the sender is a ground. Do you have the ground jumper strap installed between the sender and the steel fuel line? Yes, it is possible for the fuel gauge to not have power while the temperature gauge does, depending on...

    Orange clear or raw??

Try POR15's Peulclid clear. I've used it on chrome wheels and bumpers and after 13 years it has not yellowed. Though I know engine heat is probably the yellowing culprit for most clears. Peuclid is a one part epoxy and is super durable.

    Cleaning a gas tank

Yes. I used muriatic acid to clean out the rust, then baking soda/water to neutralize that. Then I used an Eastwood kit to recoat the inside of the tank. Ten years later and it stills looks great inside. Follow the instructions in the kit if you want good results. Like you've done, you have...

    clear coating an aluminum intake

Yes, they make a clear powder coating. Looks great too, but I never used it on an intake though. It can take temperatures up to 400 degrees, but over that it will probably yellow too.

Help! 72 duster 318 Wont pass emissions!

I just went thru NJ emissions today. Failed the first time and passed after retarding the timing about 5 degrees. Here are the numbers for my 1967 273 engine with about 100K miles: Fail: Timing = 8 deg BTC Idle = no tach, so can only guess. Just above stalling out. HC = 2,434 (Pass <1,400)...

    what causes this to happen

I have the same situation on my GTX with a 440 and Carter carb. This is normal if you don't start the car daily. I use starting fluid to prime the engine first, and it will allow the engine to run long enough to allow the mechanical fuel pump to fill the carb again.

Help! 72 duster 318 Wont pass emissions!

Yes I did. I love the wheels! Thanks! No, even my 1967 Barracuda had to do the emissions test. But if it fails miserably, I could just get QQ plates and then be emission exempt. But then NJ would limit the cars usage to just car shows and repair stations. NJ used to have a a triangle...

Turn down the idle mixture screws until the engine starts to run rough, then back up a quarter turn. Then try the inspection again. If you fail, take it outside in the parking lot and turn the screws another 1/8th closed and retest. You may have to do this a few times. Watch which direction...

Fuel tank coating inside and out??

I did an Eastwood tank sealer on the inside and spray paint on the exterior. The tank was very rusty on the inside, so instructions say to muriatic acid it and water rinse it. Then the kit takes it from there. Good kit and 12 years later, it still holds gas!:blob:
