    dougs or tti headers

I run Doug's on the 340/727 in my '70 Dart. Very happy with them, not one clearance issue.

    Starter replacement with Doug's

I've got Doug's on my 340 and I run the '90s Dakota starter. I'm able to remove it without changing a thing.

    My Love/Hate with making headers

Do you bend your own pipe or just buy a bunch of different sizes and configurations?

    Best exhaust for my application?

I run Dynomax welded mufflers on my 70 Dart 340 and I get a lot of compliments on it. It's got a good rumble, and barks when I stomp on it, but it doesn't have that drone at certain speeds.

    318 exhaust manifold help.

    This chart only goes to 1973, but perhaps it's one of these. http://www.moparsunlimited.net/mopar_exhaust_manifold_casting_n.htm Left one - 2465769 - 1967/68 Dart & Barracuda, 273 - 318 Right one - 2465847 - 1964-66 Dart & Barracuda, 273

Best 318 headers with no modification?

X2. It's easier to remove a torsion bar and install the header from under the car.

Best 318 headers with no modification?

Dougs or TTI should require no mods, my Doug's didn't on my 340. Hookers are cheaper but you may have to smash the pipes in places to make them clear.

    Exhaust end studs in head

How hard is it to install studs?

    Exhaust end studs in head

Thanks. How long should the bolts be? Standard header bolts? Or longer? Also, when I go to change the header gaskets, and I remove these bolts, will I have antifreeze everywhere?

    Exhaust end studs in head

Do the threaded studs in the end of the head (the ones that block the water) need to be studs? Can they just be regular bolts? My rebuilt engine doesn't have them, so I'd like to just use bolts if possible. Or do they need to have loctite or some kind of sealer and therefore it would be better...

    TTI exhaust too loud

I've got Hooker headers to an H pipe to a set of Cherry Bombs with tail pipes that dump just before the rear diff ... very loud.

    Cheap headers, and power steering?

70 Dart with 318 with Hooker Comp headers. Didn't have any issues with the steering box itself, just with the steering shaft coupler, and the idler arm rubbing.

    Good Bye Flowmasters!

Does anyone know anything about the Dynomax Thrush? I believe thats what they're called.. I went to the parts store today to ask about mufflers and about Dynomax and they had a few pairs of 'Thrush' in stock, they ran about $80 Canadian each.

    Muffler recommendations

318 with Hooker Comp headers currently running Cherry Bomb glass packs. I don't want glass packs anymore, does anyone have any recommendations for a certain type of Flowmasters that are still loud but not glass pack loud? Like something that sounds cleaner? Also I don't have a lot of money right...

    Exhaust manifold casting numbers

Is there anything you guys can decode from these casting numbers? I have 2 sets of exhaust manifolds that I have no idea what they came off of, and I'm not sure which manifold is with which set.. Either way I'll type out what I think the numbers are on the manifolds, if there is nothing you can...

    Headers

you had to take the plugs right out? oh. i didnt have to take mine out, but hey if it gives more clearance than ya you may as well, since there isnt much clearance in there anyways

    Headers

take the starter off, and unbolt the engine from the motor mounts. leave the brackets (they are the ones with the 4 bolts) on your engine, but unbolt either from the top side or bottom side of your motor mount (the rubber type one with the larger nut on top and bottom). i unbolted from the...

    Headers

ya i did this on my 70 dart. i had to raise the engine a couple inches, take the steering apart because it goes through the drivers side header like mr.318 said, also had to remove my starter. its definatly a ***** gettin the starter back in afterwards. and yes having a friend or whoever there...

haha to be honest i had no idea if they would fit or not, i just decided to go for it. putting them in was super easy, the hardest part was plugging those damn smog holes!

    Put headers in yesterday

I installed Hooker Comp headers yesterday in my 70 dart on a 318, didn't have any problems getting them in, and i have power steering. Yes its a tight fit with power steering, but didn't have to bang them up at all. Sorry the pics are a little dark.
