    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

But will antiseize hold up to the heat from the exhaust?

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

I agree with you. They might not have used gaskets at the factory, but there they had clean flat surfaces. I've got 2 exhaust manifold gasket kits coming from Amazon that don't have those connections between the exhaust ports. They come in 1 piece, perforated between the exhaust gaskets. They're...

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

I already have the header flange, 2 of them. I have 5/16 ones. Wish I had the 1/4 ones.

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

Did you use a gasket on the passenger side?

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

There are no gaskets made with this material? I've ordered 2 sets of Mahle MS12268 gaskets that are made with perforated metal. Wonder if it's the same material?

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

Are you running manifolds or headers? The manifold on the driver's side hits the head where the exit port is on my Eddy heads, hence the need for the gasket. I have to use a header flange to space the manifold away from the head enough to get a seal on the manifold when torqued down. Do you...

Don't have power steering or power brakes.

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

Shouldn't be a problem if I use some hi-temp gasket sealer.

I forgot to mention that I'm running the Edelbrock heads, if that makes a difference.

    Exhaust manifold gaskets

What does everyone use for gaskets on their hi-po exhaust manifolds? I don't really like the header gaskets that are connected between the exhaust ports. I thought I had some of the Mahle MS12268 gaskets, which are the ones that have individual gaskets for the outer ports and one gasket for the...

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

When I received my bolt kit (many years ago) from Layson's, I certainly don't remember the sleeve nuts being assembled with the studs attached. But, that was a long time ago.

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Would you suggest something else? How can I get a conical washer on the sleeve nuts?

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Actually, I need to correct myself. The manual shows the passenger side with conical washers on the the 2 sleeve nuts. I don't see how that is possible. Obviously the photo supplied by 6T9QDA is correct and the manual incorrect.

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

According to my service manual, which only shows the passenger side manifold, you have it laid out properly. I appreciate the photo, since the driver's side manifold isn't covered. I have not only done an Internet search, but I have also checked every repair manual I have. Don't understand why...

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Don't go to too much trouble. The issue that I am having a problem with is the placement of those washers. My service manual says they only are to be installed on the studs on the #2 and #8 exhaust ports. There's actually a photo with arrows pointing to those studs. But it makes no mention of...

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

According to my service manual, the conical washers are placed on the studs on the #2 and #8 exhaust ports, but none on the #4 and #6 ports. Unfortunately, it only speaks of the passenger side. It only mentions the torque specs for the driver's side. No mention of the conical washers for the...

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

What is the orientation of the washer? Is the cup down towards the engine, or up towards the bolt head?

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

I will take a stud with me when I go looking for the bolts. Thanks

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Shouldn't the bolts be 7/16? At least that's what I remember from my 1971 Charger days.

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

So the bolts have to be anything specific? I'm asking because of the heat they will be subject to.

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Yeah, I already have all the studs and sleeve nuts. I was trying to save some money by just replacing just what I needed. I guess I will be better off just buying all new hardware.

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Gotcha. So now I have to find bolts that will fit. What about the driver's side? All bolts? Can anyone advise what size I need to look for?

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Thanks folks. Are these all nuts, or are some of the fasteners bolts? The service manual has some being nuts on both ends, but bolts on the middle exhaust runners. It also shows the cupped washers only on the front and rear of the manifold, at least the passenger side is what is shown.

    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Can anyone help me with something? I have the service manual on CD for the 1970 Duster, and have been searching it for info on torque specs for the manifolds. It only shows the passenger side manifold. I not only need the torque specs, but some photos of both sides would be very helpful. Does...

    Cupped washers

Mancini Racing is where I saw that. They want $3.99 each for the washers. Thought that was a bit high, but supply and demand creates the market. I found some that were for a Jeep CJ that looked identical, but were much cheaper. Don't know if those would work in place of the OEM ones. I tried...

    Cupped washers

I'm searching for those washers to attach the hi-po exhaust manifolds. So far, what I have found are sorta pricey, but that's not the problem currently. How many are required? I've gotten differing information, depending on where they are available. I've seen that 4 are needed, 1 on each corner...

    Edelbrock heads with OEM manifolds

I can tell you it won't fit. Been there, done that. Because of the shape of the manifold, it hits the head where the manifold curls under. I tried removing some of the manifold material, but too much material needed to be removed for my comfort. I got a header flange to act as a spacer. You'll...

    Shorty headers

Thanks for the info. When I purchased the car it had a set of long tube headers that were a major PITA to deal with. The biggest drawback was how some of the tubes ran under the steering linkage. I understand the concept of equal length tubes, but that design didn't work well for me. That's the...
