Can you change the bell housing from one to the other

Have a slant six .Bad trans found locally a good trans 904 from a 318 can I swap these two or what will be necessary and if j get the trans for $100 is it worth the effort

After finding a good shop i was properly instructed on how to find my new length which went from 54" center to center to 53 1/8 center to center which is only 7/8 shorter
