Need Opinions- 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD

He says he has somebody coming to look at it this weekend. It's still listed at $19,000. I'll see what happens. They may be dumb enough to pay the asking price. I know I wouldn't lol. Thanks for all of the input everybody. I appreciate it. And if you think of anything else to pay attention to on...

Need Opinions- 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD

That is a nice truck... I'm looking at the same thing, but it's White. Same interior and everything haha. Just spoke with the owner and he says he "thinks" it has 3.55:1 gears, which is exactly what I was hoping for... This thing is sounding better if I can get his price down. I mentioned the...

Need Opinions- 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD

KBB and Edmunds TMV seems to place it around $13-15,000. $19,000 definitely seemed high to me, and I'm guessing it's because there's not many of these with this little rust in New England. Very true. But i'd prefer the 3/4 cab rather than having the full 4-door. Good tip with the POR-15...

Need Opinions- 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD

Hey all. Went to look at a truck last weekend and wanted to get some input here, since I know you're all Mopar nuts and a fair few of you have owned a mighty Cummins pickup. The truck is a White 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with the 5.9L Diesel and an automatic transmission. I confirmed that he has...

Bad News for me today getting laid off in Oct

Sorry to hear. Hopefully something will come up in the meantime. If you don't mind my asking, what type of work do you do? I work with a lot of commercial buildings and manufacturing companies in the NYC/Long Island area. I deal with the facility managers and sometimes hear about job prospects...

Rebuilding engine- Need advice (and to vent)

Dave, Thank you very much for taking the time to reply with all of this information. It's definitely helpful to see simpler solutions for all of the issues I listed. I will get a call into Scott and see what he has to offer on rebuilding my carb. Thank you for that link as well. -Mike

Rebuilding engine- Need advice (and to vent)

Tried that. Pulled all different combinations of belts. I think the only belt that didn't squeal was the Water Pump or the Power Steering Pump belt. Do you think it's possible the crank pulley is worn out and the belts are riding too low in the grooves? Thank you for the suggestion though. It...

Rebuilding engine- Need advice (and to vent)

Good to know! lol I think I just needed to vent my frustrations. I plan to pull the insurance on it soon and yank the motor. It won't cost much to put new gaskets on everything. I think the only expensive item will be the new carb and new head pipes. But i think it will be worth it in the...

Rebuilding engine- Need advice (and to vent)

Thank you all for the compliments. It sounds like pulling the motor is the best way to do it all right. From a value point of view, would it detract from the car's value if I put one of the Street Demon 1904 carbs on it (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dem-1904/overview/)? Rebuilding the...

Rebuilding engine- Need advice (and to vent)

Pauly, I haven't done a compression leakdown test, but there's no coolant in the oil, no smoke from the exhaust, and it runs awesome at speed. It just won't idle. I thinking carb or vacuum leak. But perhaps a leakdown test wouldn't be a bad idea. Geof, Thanks for the input and compliment. I...

Rebuilding engine- Need advice (and to vent)

Hi all. This isn't A-body specific, but it is Mopar. I have a 1972 Roadrunner and I'm looking for some advice on a rebuild. And I could use to vent. My Dad and I restored the car when I was younger and it's been on the road about 8 years now. It has a 400c.i. HP motor, fairly stock, 0.030...

    Absolutely disgusting

I knew a lot of people in the area. I was fortunate to hear that they are safe. It is tough to hear of something so violent happening so close to your home. Sick, sick people out there.

    Absolutely disgusting

I don't know if anybody is watching the news but no less than 3 bombs were detonated at the end of the Boston Marathon. It's really disgusting what people are capable of. I hope the friends and family of everyone here are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families...

    Movie rating thread

Boondock Saints- 5 on 5 (or per 67Dart273, 15 out of 10). Great movie if you're frustrated with crime/corruption. Opens the mind to other possibilities. I don't want to give anything away. It's definitely over-the-top, but I believe that was intended.

    Non-Mopar: NEED HELP- 1995 Ford F-250 Diesel

Thank you all for the excellent suggestions. It actually ended up being the cam position sensor, which cost a whopping $30 to fix. Not bad for a weeks worth of diagnosing lol. This will be a great reference for anybody with a 7.3L tow rig though. Thanks again. -Mike

    Non-Mopar: NEED HELP- 1995 Ford F-250 Diesel

It smokes a little once we get it started, but it's been between 30-35*F when we've been working on it, and his exhaust right now conists of a length of 3" pipe leading off the turbo and dumping at the passenger side footwell, so it's really tough to tell what is residual smoke from start-up and...

    Non-Mopar: NEED HELP- 1995 Ford F-250 Diesel

Thank you all for viewing. My cousin has a 1995 Ford F-250 pickup with the 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel motor. He bought it used, and it was previously used/maintained as a fleet vehicle. He was driving home Monday and the truck started to stumble and eventually died. He changed the fuel filter on...

    Commuter Car

Boy ain't that the truth. I will only buy Volkswagen TDIs now for commuting. I was converted. I will also never buy a used one again. 20,000 miles of chasing turbo blow-off valve problems, still to no avail. The new Jap cars work well for commuting as well. Good mileage, low maintenance...

I am thinking about a career change...

Don't get discrouraged. It's not all math and suits. When I graduated as an M.E., there were two members of my class (one ~38 years old and one ~58 years old) both of whom were changing careers to become MEs. It's tough work but it opens a lot of doors. For example, I work in the energy...

I Blame CHIP FOOSE he's making me crazy

Not too hard. Just cut out the bottom of the frame and weld in some vertical plates to mount the LCAs to. This opening below leaves access to slide a wrench underneath the frame and to slide the LCA bolts through. You'd need to be a fairly precise welder, and know where to add the supports, but...

    Should I call it quits?

Read through this and see if you feel the same way: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=106974 It can be saved. A little time, a little patience, and a LOT of know-how. Do you have that last part is the big question. If not, what better time to learn than now? -Mike

    new car question

Define eventually... I have never heard of such a feature on new cars. That could be a risk, say if you leave somebody in the car with the A/C on. Then again, newer cars have seat weight sensors to activate seatbelt/airbag lights. I'm going to say no, but I wouldn't be surprised if some...

well the dart is getting pulled apart...

Very sad to see this car go. It is actually an inspiration for my next build. I love the stance and how it sits. That being said, as much flack as people might give you for parting it, at least it is being used to give new life to other Mopars. These cars are approaching 40-50 years old. They...

Favorite non mopar owned hot rod.

Not mine, but it's the best non-Mopar car I've been for a ride in. My buddy Mike's 1987 Camaro IROC Z28 with a 388 stroker, automatic, and 4.10 gears. The car burns through all three gears on any street tire.
