so i'm just getting ready to pull apart my 360 to just do quick rebuild. My question is since i'm re-using my lifters and pushrods (assuming they're still in good shape) do they need to be numbered and matched up the same when i put it back together or does it matter? thanks guys

Hey, does anyone know what the cc's of a stock set of 596 small block heads are? I'm looking at pistons but can't come up with approximate comp. ratio without knowing the cc's of the head. Thanks in advance

ok guys well this is all great but i don't plan on having 10-1 compression, its just too much, i know it can be done but trying to get a motor to run well with that much compression is just beyond my skills, i'm planning on keeping it closer to 9.5-1, it'll be easier to tune and easier on gas...

ok guys so a bit of an update, a couple of you have posted on my 318 thread as well and right now i'm just trying to figure out budget problems. i was thinking on doing up my 318 a little until i could really afford to do this 360 but its looking like what i was hoping to do with it would turn...

oh i forgot i have the stock intake on my 360 duh lol. would that be a better suited intake for this 318? or should i be looking for something off a 318 originally?

ok thanks rumble, thats kinda what i was figuring, if i can get that set of pistons that i had mentioned in my original post i think that would be perfect. even a combo of pump/race fuel is not an option, this car will be driven pretty much every day during the summer on the streets.

ok now, with the heads i was thinking, the IMM/RHS ones, they only do head cc volumes of 62-67 cc's, that will give me far too much compression with the kb's correct? like closer to 10.8-1. i would like to run it closer to 9.5-1 if possible but with those heads and the kb 107's would i be able...

for the 107's i typed in the 67 cc head volume and it have me about 10.3-1 which if thats accurate i think may be a little to much for me. Is that calculator accurate or is there a better or more accurate way to calculate a rough compression ratio. i guess it all depends on how thick of head...

someone also mentioned using a keith black piston, with those heads that i listed above which set of pitons could i use and still have a reasonable compression ratio? Like i have said this will be a mostly street engine with a couple fun track days a season, but on the other hand me being young...
