    1969 Valiant Diary

I’d planned to do that with a ‘75 Duster that I had but ended up selling it. My plan now is to use the ‘67 front clip (and possibly the ‘67 rearend) on my ‘75 Scamp in order to make a 1-of-none 112” wb ‘67 valiant.

Nice! Someone did you a big favor and put a 67 grill in it instead of the less attractive 69 grill. Yup, I said it. :D

If you’re looking to buy another cam, I think I’d emulate what RAMM did with this build. That torque curve is nuts!

Dang dude… sucks to hear about what you went through! But I am happy to see an update on the car! And also glad that you’re still here with us and not in a 6x10 cell somewhere. :D

I for one really enjoyed and appreciated your post on your quest for geometry improvement! (Well, up until the doom n gloomers came in with all the hate, anyway) I’ll likely follow your lead on the taller balljoints in the future (unfortunately I JUST put new QA1 balljoints in this last fall) I...

I would scour market place and see if you can find a 5.2 or 5.9 magnum for $200-400. Only common issue on those is the cracked heads (which imo is a non-issue on 90% of them) and they often need cam bearings replaced.

I love what I’m seeing so far! As for your wheel fitment issues, I was going to link this thread below and suggest you do what 72bluNblu did, but then I saw you started that thread, so you’ve already seen it. Rear Wheel Tub adjusting outer side of tub any sugestions?

Oh, cool! I hadn’t realized that’s what you were running. I just assumed you had something similar to the heidts spindle that I have.

Doing a little bit of googling, I just found these corvette hub style spindles from CPP that are a direct bolt on for Mustang ii style suspensions. Very reasonably priced as well! They wouldn’t solve the need for the 2” extended balljoints, but would be another great option for brakes as well as...

That is awesome! I really appreciate all the ground work you’re doing with all this stuff! Definitely gets me thinking on what I want to do with my cars in the future.

I may have to pick your brain if/when I get to that point. I could also easily just use a stock spindle and redrill a hub to the 5x115 pattern. That’d probably be the easiest/cheapest option for me

Is there a company that already builds the fabricated spindle you’re talking about, or were you just planning to design and have a set made? Reason I ask, is I’ve got a future project that I’m considering using Challenger 5x115 wheels on anyway, so the Challenger hubs would work perfectly for me.

Well, I for one am glad to see you’ll be keeping the car. As for the seatbelt holes, get the biggest Phillips screwdriver you can find (that still fits the hole) heat it up real good with a map torch or even over a candle or other heat source, then push it through the carpet from the underside...

    My Duster Adventures

I don’t know why I didn’t include a picture of the car sitting on the cribs in that post, but here’s one. If I remember correctly, I think I jammed a 2x4 front and back of the tires, measured that, then made it a little tighter yet so I’d for sure not get any movement.

'69 Barracuda T56 swap, floor, cross member

After doing it once, you’ll always install them that way. I usually do engine, transmission and entire front suspension all at once. It makes it an easy one man job.

I was one of the guys without a time slip from the strip. My car was running like crap at wot Friday so my best time just broke into the 15’s. After a thorough carburetor cleaning Thursday night and a fresh tank of gas Friday night didn’t fix the issue, I discovered that, like an idiot, I’d...

Good to know! That was the only complaint the guy who did my alignment. Even on the alignment rack/lift he had a real hard time getting at the adjusters.
