you are right, i missed this one this morning....

first off it is a 22" inch radiator. here is the correct number you need for 1970 #2998945. now here are more that will work...1970 #2998944, 1971 #3443975, 1971 #3443976, 1971 #3443977, 1972 #3574636, 1972 #3574634 all of these are 22" radiators for 340's as well

joe you are right on. i thought the /6 didn't have one, but the ac slant's did! sorry i missed that one.

no there was not a shroud with the /6 in 71. what i did was take the brackets from a radiator that had a shroud and had them added to the original radiator so i would have a mounting location for a shroud. i then found a correct shroud that fits the 19' radiator i had recored. it worked well...

also you mentioned the upperhose as being hot so you know the antifreeze is circulating. next time before the car gets hot. start it up and take the cap off. the thermostat will open up and the circulation will start. when it does see how much flow you have. the water pump should be able to have...

al i will throw another possible cause at you. i have a head gasket leak that leaks a little on the outside only of the engine. i can see it actually leave a little dried stain on the side of the block. only happens when hot then stopps when cold. if you can tell what side it is coming from look...

his problem isn't the clutch. it is the blades hitting the tank. his fan has no notches for the tank clearence.

here is my wifes setup. this is a 340 fan exact same number as my 72 demon 340. i have this installed on my wifes car which is a 318. this setup is a 71 22" 340 radiator. a 71 340 shroud. the fan came from a 70 4 door dart with a 318 and ac. the fan is the same setup as my 70 polara with a 318...

ok i just checked on the 318 -340 fan cross refrence for 73. it looks like there were 2 other fans used not common to the 340 but 1 that is the same. the other 2 are slightly different. 1 has a 5 blade setup and the other 7. the 7 blade unit (#2863224) is 18" while the other is 18 1/2" and 5...

the 340 fan setup might not be to hard to find. alot of times the 318's with a/c had the same fan and clutch as the 340's did. i haven't looked to see if that is the case for 73 or not. i do know that is the case in 71-72. so if the shroud works for the current setup the notch those blades back...

that is a option, but the further you pull the fan out away from the radiator and shroud the less effective it will be cooling.

that is a mopar performance viscus fan. it is a good fan but it lacks the notch cut in the tip of the blades to clear the tank as the fans of the era did for you car. it is a "generic performance replacement" if you will. it works but not on all applications without modifications. you have it...

honestly i don't think anybody would even look at it a second time. i know i wouldn't. i myself would only notice if it was a flex fan or electric stuffed in there. my wifes 318 dart never came with one, and i added it to hers with no regreats.

hey longgone from what i can see the fan and thermal clutch drive pictured is almost correct for 68. the fan is correct for 68, but the clutch needs to be #2863231. that would be for a 68 340 with ac. i do not see a listing for the 68 340 non ac anywhere...that being said it looks like in 68 the...

it all depends on the type of core they use. remember you pay for what you get. bigger tubes and tighter rows are the way to go. bigger tubes with tighter rows of tubes will outcool a 3 or 4 row core radiator anyday. all of the radiators i have had recored all have rows only 1/4" inch apart and...

just recore it and be done with it......with the money you will spend on a new one you would only be about 100 short for a recore. recores are way better than stock, with bigger tubes and more rows of tubes to boot!
