    The two I’ve been around were the result of a broken rear gear at the launch. One blew apart the other hit the sprag so hard it split it breaking the case.

    like 1wild back in our street days with the 8.75 we’d run 4.10/.56s for fun, but had a 2.7 gear chuck we could throw in for road trips. Weren’t making enough power to hurt them back then.

    ….and from what I’ve heard in my circles I’m lucky I didn’t break shafts I give the ATF +4 a thumbs up….. I once had a conversation with Dave at his shop (Pro Trans) about fluid. He just smiled and said “run the red stuff”

    Weird deal but I was simply shopping for some upgrade parts for a unit I was running and ended up with a complete transmission :) . Chris was great to work with. easy to contact and kept me up to date and worked with me on picking it up and paying.

    727 trans no accumulator?

    As 408 Swinger said…… just look up accumulator blocking rod. You’ll get the idea….. but now I’m curious. Did they put a plug in the accumulator passage? I’ve heard of that being done, but D ring seals and a blocker rod will suffice. hopefully you ordered the metal accumulator not the plastic.

    Race car stuff, but going hot laps with a trans brake can really drive temps up. I use the “log” under the bumper (like the added capacity) in tandem with my aluminum radiator that utilizes a factory style heat exchanger. With bracket racing I like to get the trans to op temp, but not cook it

    727 trans no accumulator?

    From the department of oversight committee…. Griner brake on the L required no accumulator. Pro Trans one on the right requires accumulator. I can attest you will burn stuff up in short order making that error. Accumulator and blocker will always be the “safe” way on a race oriented trans.

    Back in the old days…. Lowered the trans a bit and used the long extension swivel socket method. 2nd gen mod was holesaw access holes in the floor. 3rd gen mod with when the CSR 727 shield came into play. Cut a section of floor out and now have a 2 piece aluminum floor Dzus’ed into place...

    I witnessed such a debacle involving multiple PTC converters I’d have a hard time ever calling them….. I know everyone has a bad day but seeing a guy pull his trans like 6 times over leaking or broken converters (plus 2 that were not usable out of the box…. Splines inside bad and one pump drive...
