No C-Clips on this one, just one stuck axle...

Well, I have a leaking axle seal in my '65 Dart, and I've tried a puller, I've pulled the cover and tried prying between the cross shaft and the axle itself, and the axle just won't budge. I pulled the four nuts from the retainer...any ideas???

From what I've gathered on here and on slantsix.org, it only has one seal per side and a sealed bearing that presses on the axle. The seal is located inboard of the bearing. I was able to order the parts through my local O'Reilly's, so we'll see. I'll tear into it early next week and report back.

My '65 Dart's left axle seal sprung a big leak, and the left brake is filled with gear oil now. First, does the 7.25 have two axle seals? I seem to find conflicting information. Anyone have any part numbers for the seals? (And bearings if you have them...I might get those out of the...

I didn't take any pictures while I was under there... If I get a chance tomorrow, I will, but you probably won't be able to see it past the transmission leaks! :)

Thanks for the tip, but I don't think I was precise (oops). I'm talking about the bushings on the actual transmission levers that the shift rods attach to.

I was just underneath my '65 Dart today replacing the steering box, and I noticed that the bushings in the shifter arms (that the shift rods attach to) are shot. Now, the three on the tree is already precise, so why not make it more so by putting in new bushings? :) Anyone know where I...

It's a '65 A-903. From what I've found those gears are pretty tough to come by. I'm running a little shorter tire, but I calculated the gear ratio, and it's a 3.23, so the revs aren't all that bad, about 3300 at 70.

I double checked the service manual and did some online research, and it all said that trans. uses ATF. I just changed to Dexron III...It's easy to change with the filler plug on the bottom. I don't notice any difference in shifting or noise. I think gear oil would be equally acceptable. My...

I just read (after filling it with 80W-90 and driving 50 miles) that non-synchro 3-speeds take automatic transmission fluid! Anyone know if that's true? If it is, I have to get that gear oil out of there ASAP! This is in a '65 Dart with a Slant.
