    65 barracuda exhaust

I would suspect the aftermarket pipe sets are cut and bent for the longer wheelbase and can be shortened as needed. As others have mentioned, the earlier cars have a slightly narrower engine compartment, but the engines themselves are the same width. 67-up exhaust will bolt right up to 67-up...

    318 exhaust manifolds

Two basic choices. 68-71 340 "high performance" manifolds which would be the best option and are being reproduced, or 67-76 A-body 318 manifolds (72 and later 340/360 just used the 318 manifolds). You could also use 92-93 magnum manifolds, but there is no ready-made y-pipe for these since...

    1964 Plymouth Valiant-3'' Exhaust

Doing something similar to the factory hi-po system with 2 1/4" downpipes into a 3" single would be a great street system for a 318.

Trying to Eliminate Drone. Need Another Opinion.

Google "1/4 wave exhaust resonator" plenty of BS and ballyhoo along with some useful theory. Added a 26" x2" to my truck a few years back, worked great to take the drone out of the generic turbo 3" single muffler. Eventually I ditched the turbo and resonator tube and switched to a Walker 22636...

Anyone running catalytic converters on car with flat tappet cam?

Flat tappet and cats? My DD Jeep 4.0 has 3 cats, 160,000+ miles, a flat tappet cam and no problems. I have run Mobil 1 TDT (turbodiesel truck) 5w-40 for the last 130,000 of those miles. I change it every 10-12K. If the engine doesn't burn or pass any significant amount of oil, there is no...

Exhaust manifolds on 273 in early A body

The outer column tube needs to be shortened, replacing the pot coupler with a u-joint help with clearance. The whole package is about 1/4" too wide, and will rub on the passenger side inner fender. The owner of the car I saw said he had 1/8" milled off the port flange of each manifold and...

Can I use 318 exhaust manifold on 340?

I thought starting in 72 all A body small block manifolds were the same.

    3 inch exhaust with manifolds??

I think all you'd gain would be noise.

    exhaust manifolds

You might want to take another 1/2" or so off that column tube, The rubber end boot looks close enough it may cook.

    Magnum exhaust manifolds

Non-Jeep magnum manifolds are basically the same. The early ones will accept a 2 1/4" down tube. Obviously the outlets are in a different location than your center dumps but if you're redoing the whole exhaust it really doesn't matter. Will you notice a difference? Yes, but a lot of that...

    exhaust manifolds

The installations I've seen require manual steering, replacing the pot coupling with a smaller diameter u-joint, shortening the steering column tube, and possible shimming of motor mounts. The passenger side will be really close to the inner fender and a couple strategic dents may be required...

    65 273 dart

They had an oval case muffler in the normal location, but it was straight through rather than reverse flow. The resonator was also a straight through but round. Basically a tractor muffler with a rectangular sheet metal tip attached. Most were polished stainless, but some were black. If...

What are these shorty headers you speak of?

302 Heads in an Early A.

I think you should be fine. Only about 1/4 inch needs to be removed, mostly from the edge of the pad. Those extended pads were added for AIR injection exhaust manifolds. I doubt the inner casting core was altered, to move the water passage outward. If anything the casting would have been...

302 Heads in an Early A.

Why not grind off the offending bit of head? I'm assuming you're having trouble with the drivers side manifold outlet pipe hitting the smog port boss under the #7 port.

    Dougs headers question

Hylomar. Great stuff but it won't work on exhaust.

1966 Barracuda single to dual issues

All A-body right side manifolds were center dump except 68-71 340. The outlet diameter changed, but the location didn't.

    early exhaust

Exhaust bolt pattern the same for LA and Magnum heads. You'll have to plug the AIR holes under the ports for most manifolds.

    early exhaust

If you want rear dump, then it's Magnum logs.
  23. C

    early exhaust

All A-body and most other small block right side manifolds are center dump. Left sides are generally rear dump. Are you trying to connect to the factory style "Y" pipe? If so, you'll need 64-66 manifolds if you are using a 64-66 "Y" pipe, as the left side dump was angled almost directly...

Dynomax super turbo, low rpm drone gotta go

Tailpipes. Shorter muffler cases tend to drone more. Also consider stepping down to 2 1/4" mufflers and tailpipes. Plenty adequate for a 273.
  25. C

    Quiet exhaust recommendations?

Full tail pipes will make any muffler quieter.

    273 to 360 exhaust

The down pipe on the 273 drivers side manifold hits the head causing the #7 port to leak.

    318 vs 340 exhaust manifolds

If you are talking about 68-71 340 manifolds, the yes. But unless you have a set laying around, a set of garden variety headers would be cheaper.

What Manifolds for a Mild 318 Build?

I think the Thumpr line has a pretty split pattern.

What Manifolds for a Mild 318 Build?

Stock iron manifolds with 2.25" dual exhaust will be just fine. Next upgrade would be magnums, then 68-71 340 manifolds or garden variety headers. From 72 on all A-body V8 manifolds were basically the same, so any later manifolds are about the same as what you have now.
