1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

ALL 67-69 Barracudas were assembled at Hamtramck. For the last 30 years I have been hearing the M2 code was for the 2nd assembly line. Alan

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

I have been hearing this for years, you would think that 50% of the cars would have the M2 code but it doesn't seam that way, unless the 2nd line was an overflow line? Alan

    VIN Rivets

When I did my Barracuda (2006) I found a pair of NOS on eBay. They were exact, shape, thickness, domed, material. You get what you pay for. In the end any of these will do the job if they are being looked at. I put this in the you are spending thousands on the car and you are going to cheap...

First pass, my better reference isn't real clear either. The items in red are not on the data tag, everything else should be. Filling up at the gas station

I do not leave it unattended, I shove the nozzle in (hard) hold it and lift up. 50/50 on weather it spills out. I just let it, grab a towel in the wash bucket and wipe it down. No towels, I get a wipe from the trunk, move on. The short time the gas is there will not damage the paint. Alan

Early 1968 GTS Fender Tag question...

I learned to more or less look at the headers or at least just use it as a guide. Look at 577 Not only does it say Tachometer the number with it is 577 yet if you have a Vacuum Gauge there is a 4 code there for 574 Alan

    Getting a similar Shop Manual

@4spdragtop I'm not sure what there is to Disagree with, I'm just stating the facts. I checked a dozen different factory service manuals, multiple 67s, not one had any indication of a second printing (doesn't mean they didn't). It didn't matter what year make or model they were all printed in...

    Getting a similar Shop Manual

I don't think any bulletins were ever added to the manuals. The bulletin is dated November 25, 1966 that was probably before the cars hit the dealer. It is hard enough getting people just to get a factory service manual. Adding this to it just makes it more complicated. There were even two...

    Getting a similar Shop Manual

I wouldn't exactly say Mopar dropped the ball, The Barracuda was a late entry car for 67, production started October 31, 1966. So it is hard to say if the literature was even ready for the press when the manual went to press. The Supplement was issued as a Service Bulletin, it includes...

crimped shut rocker drain holes from factory?

I don't think the cowl drains into the rocker, there is no reason for it to. The cowl dumps out by the hood hinge. Alan

    Vin number question

Maybe I miss worded it but the SO number is part of the body stamping (at least in 67) and on both the data tag and broadcast sheet. Is that the case in 64/65? I don't know. Alan

    Vin number question

The VIN printed on the title matches a 65 VIN sequence L - Dart - V8 4 - Dart GT 5 - 1965 2 - Hamtramck 681196 - Sequence number (Unit 581196) If you are correct on the VIN tag reading L1452681196, it is probably a typo, the 1 in place of the L would be a /6 not a V8 Alan

273 stock coil location hitting vacuum advance

This is a stock 273 in a 67, I have had the orientation on it like this as long as I have had the car. Original factory caps were not marked for #1 I would say this is how it should be. Possible problems. Drive gear is in wrong. Distributor is assembled wrong Pretty simple. The likely the...

Single to dual M/C. Some specific queries

The only difference in what he is asking and they way it is done is not having an idiot light for the brakes. The distribution valve on the 67+ has a switch between the front and rear circuits to detect a difference in pressure. Running the rear brakes directly to the master cylinder would...

Did Factory Undercoat the Fuel Tanks?

An easy way to look at this is that the gas tank was in the car before they undercoated it, the intent wasn't to undercoated the gas tank but it may get some, every operator is different, have you ever used an undercoated gun? Alan
