Seeking advice on applying clear powder coat

That one was formulated for aluminum but they have a couple others that might work too. I don't do much on brass.

I'd use a clear ceramic instead of powder. Check out MC5100 for polished metals. Cerakote.com

Maybe TriCity? Keep in mind though that powder coating over chrome is NOT the proper way to do it, though lots of people do. I'm not one of them. The absolute best way is to get that chrome chemically removed at a chrome shop first because it's faster and a lot cheaper than trying to blast it...

I didn't look at the site the OP posted but am at a loss why parts washer parts would be applicable to a blast cabinet.

sand blast cabinet update help please

Same here, but when you find yourself fighting a block every few seconds, it's time to find the culprit. Most often it's a bigger chunk of media or hardware that slipped through the grate into the hopper. A piece or two of screen stapled to a wooden "window" makes a great cheap sifter.

sand blast cabinet update help please

@YY1, sifted playground sand is a VERY soft media. I assume it's the crap from Tractor Supply? Try a bag of black fine slag some time, or aluminum oxide, and your time at the cabinet can be cut in half or better. Cheap media is all fine and good but it's got to work to be efficient.

sand blast cabinet update help please

X2 on the TP Tools gun upgrade kit. Invest in carbide nozzles if you blast a lot -- they'll pay for themselves almost immediately.

    Powder coat vers Paint

"Best" and "cheapest" don't always go together. Though I don't really focus on wheels for various reasons (unlike the vast majority of powder coaters), you should know there are literally thousands of powder colors available in any texture you want. Silver, gold and even some red powders are...

    HF sandblaster

My compressor is a big 100 gallon workhorse from the 80s. It has to be regulated down to 90 psi, and lowered again at that air drop for softer metals. I can't help with your question.

    HF sandblaster

The carbide tips from TPTools.com are a serious upgrade too. The pink ceramic ones wear out quickly; I bought a 6-pack of carbide tips several years back ... and am still using the first one. If you find you're getting frequent clogs, the "hand block" method works but it sure gets old for big...

    Cheap plasma cutter any good?

Picked up a new Simadre plasma cutter a couple years ago for around $300. It's pretty impressive for a cheapie, but its consumables come from another place (Amazon?) whose price and quality outmatched theirs.

New Product for a new Month...

Reputable coaters use these cool things called High Temp Silicone Plugs that keep powder out of threaded holes. Chipping is rare if the job is done right (it is typically attributed to under- or over-curing, oils or other contaminants left on the substrate under the powder, or using a powder...

    Recommendations led shop lights

My friend Richard (who helped build my 7-foot oven years ago) said you can put LED bulbs into existing 8-foot fixtures simply by bypassing the ballast. Anyone tried this???

    Sand blast gun

Get a Gun Upgrade Kit from TPTools.com. It's got a better gun, carbide tips (ceramic ones suck), and a new pickup tube. No one should EVER blast with sand of any kind. Read up on silicosis and you'll find out why. Further, playground sand is too soft to cut well and it pulverizes into dust...

    Steel shop question

I went with this stuff called Double Bubble, basically two sheets of bubble wrap with a foil insulator, in my 30x40 metal building after losing a couple walls to a tornado in 2011. With an R-19 value at $160 per 6' x100' foot rolls, it adheres with F26 construction adhesive. I have a big...

If you hold your palm against the gun tip for a few seconds with the air feed going, does it make a cloud? Sounds like maybe you have a hole in the uptake tube or a line blockage.

    Blast gun recommendations

Just curious Sporty but why does your blast cabinet have to roll anywhere? Might make it easier to wash (roll it closer to the garden hose maybe) ... I have to stand on a platform to see in the window lol (Billy does a lot of the blasting and is 17 inches taller than me). I couldn't imagine...

Best thing to do to your blasting cabinet.

Cal, my cabinet's five feet long and everything to date has fit in it just fine. I still have a big 50 pound pressure pot blaster I can drag out into the yard if I get something too big for the SkatBlast though. Billy started to build up an extension box once out of leftover plywood but he...

Indeed it does! It also works great if you're wanting to be invisible yourself ... they never look for ya in a darkened shop and you can get more done. :-D
