What dashboard gauges are most useful for a slant?

Being a desert car my 64 Dart gauge cluster was literally turning to dust. Along with being sun bleached. Low buck was going with Equus Gauges oil, water, volts, fuel. Work well and have done 3 cars with them. The little red light near the key is the oil light. I like to have both.Un finished work.

    Slant 6 oil pressure woes…

Not the best photo but I did this with a brass T to hook up my pressure light and have the mechanical gauge too. Did this on a 64 Dart 225.

    Slant 6 oil pressure woes…

Same as you volaredon. Slant 6 cars that were never driven far daily were known for being a sludge mess. Never got hot enough to burn off moisture I guess.

    Slant 6 oil pressure woes…

This is just food for thought. Also I need you to clarify you have replaced the fuel pump and also the oil pump that now leaks. ? I have owned many Slants over the years and have experienced your same problems. Not knowing the condition of your engine I have to assume it has never been rebuilt...

Fully Built 225 Slant Six Pricing Question

I completely agree with Charrlie's statement. I guess we are both cave men. Same as when you go into a parts store and give them a brand and part number.Usually the stores own part number. First thing they say is "What car is it for ? " I just gave you the part and YOUR part number, the computer...

Fully Built 225 Slant Six Pricing Question

I too was just thinking of the cost to do the swap. Also thinking that you stated that you really don't have time for the car because of your job. Will that change after doing the V8 swap ?

Very true. Even for a guy that has Slant Sixness like me. I completely understand the whys and how come for wanting a change. For me it is a ok, did the Slants enough now it's time for V8. I will agree that you may be able to sell it off to the right guy for a $500 to maybe $800 max if someone...

    60s /6 to 727 adapter

Chrysler did make Slant 6 727 later in the 70's. Found one in a Dodge van at pick a part . Had to be a 72-76 ish year model. Had no need for it so didn't get it. Unusual to see, thinking hey this is cool.

    60s /6 to 727 adapter

Here Here guys ! I guess I too am in the minority being a Slanter and a Teen fan.(Just some support) Don, I have no knowledge on the grinding so I can't help with that. I do know that Chrysler was still using that adapter at least till 1968. A local guy bought a 68 D 100 that needed help getting...

    Slant 6 4bbl Carb Selection

Just to make it a 2 barrel for better driveability . And yes you don't have to at all. Used to do that stuff when I was a broke kid making a $1 a hour.

    Slant 6 4bbl Carb Selection

I'm all for using what ya got till ya can get what ya need. You "could" do all the changes and used the 1407 "because you have one" and disconnect the secondaries. Thus having a 2bbl till you can find a used 390/500. They come up on all the "Bodies sites" every now and then. Also I remember Doug...

    Slant 6 4bbl Carb Selection

Yes there are other manufactures out there too. Spectre is another. Also Bouchillon Performance The AVS2 is a superior up graded carb over the Edelbrock Performer. If you are buying new. And like Rusty said the 1407 is a 750 CFM.

    Remanufactured engine recommendations. Slant 6

I would look for a local rebuilder. If you can't find a local rebuilder. You can see if a auto shop in your area deals with Jasper Engines. I have heard both good and bad about Jasper. There are others on the internet but I can't say. Several local shops deal with Jasper without a problem.

    Slant 6 4bbl Carb Selection

Everything that Charrlie stated. In the photo that was a old Clifford intake that mounts the carb sideways. In this next photo is a Offenhauser intake that mounts the carb forward. Both ran the same but makes kick down tricky. Either way a cable kickdown kit will work.Stock gas pedal cable works...

    Slant 6 4bbl Carb Selection

I'm with Charrlie on this too. Ran the 500 on my cars,3 of them both on and off the track. Though I am not a fan of Holley, some run the 390. I did and was not satisfied, switched to the 500. On my last Slant I ran a 600 Edelbrock because I had one. Worked really well but I prefer the 500 only...

Four barrel carburetor for slant 6 Offenhauser manifold?

I agree with a stock 225 and no exhaust work to make that 4 bbl flow it may be too much. You can disconnect the secondary's and drive it that way. When you are ready and you budget allows The intake, carb, exhaust really wakes up the Slant Six. The cobbled up exhaust that I ran on my 64 Dart 225...

Four barrel carburetor for slant 6 Offenhauser manifold?

Actually a 383 from back in the day was no bigger than 600 CFM. Depending on year and carb number. Early 60's 383 AFB's were in the 465-475 cfm range. Chrysler literature called them 500. It was around 1967 that the AFB grew larger and when the 440 AVS came out it was rated at 750. If you do a...
