I can appreciate you wanting to be thorough and cleaning up that area, but if it's not rusted through, why bother?
The car has made it 52 years without rusting through, and I take it you don't drive it in the winter anyway.
And to top it all off, Tacoma isn't in the rust belt anyway...
Don't deal with RPM.
They are a bunch of a-holes and always have been.
And to top it all off, their prices are crazy.
Basically, they are Canada's version of Year One using the same catalog as they do with the prices doubled or more.
And their customer service is the *****.
I can't believe that...
I would just fill the hole with seam sealer and forget it.
And if the floor is that good with no rust through, just install the carpet over top of it and not worry.
If the car isn't used in wet or snowy conditions (like they were originally), the floor won't get any rustier than it is now.
And...
Practice on some scrap metal the same thickness as you are going to weld to get the heat settings right unless you already know for sure what you are doing.
And, fit up is critical for strength and ease of welding.
Also, cleanliness is a must!
V88 refers to the delete of all side and tail stripes.
V9X is the hood tape stripe (black in this case) for the J54 hood and snorkle scoop.
V21 and V9X would go together, so it makes sense.
From an original paint and stripe car that I have, the hood stripe is a one piece vinyl decal (a big...
Don't give up yet on the car....
It sounds like you have been through a lot and deserve to have a nice car to be proud of.
You have been given some sound advice by the members here, so just tackle the project and put it behind you with a few new swear words you invent as you go!
Restoring these...
Pic in post #2 shows a 1970 style hood that has a scripted emblem bolted to the front center of it.
A 1971 has a block letter style Dodge emblem that is placed on the front driver's side of the hood.
Wow, your ignorance precedes you.!
We don't have an ''Emperor'' we have a Prime Minister.
On a lockdown for a year?
Hardly.
Who are these people you know in Canada that ''Basically live out of their basement'' and where do they live?
What is their education level and age group?
I can assure you...
Here is a for sure.
Order a windshield for a '68 Valiant 4 door and it will fit.
Here's another way to look at it, '67 to '69 2 door Valiants were just 4 doors that were converted at the factory to be 2 doors.
The roof as well as the front and rear glass is the same for a 2 door and a 4 door.
A Scamp is considered a Valiant.
The V.I.N. would start out as VL23XXXXXXXXX
A Scamp is basically a 2 door Dart body with a Valiant/Duster front clip and a 2 lens rear bumper similar to the '70 Darts.
It was Plymouth's answer to Dodge when Dodge got the Duster body and put on a Dart front clip...
Great advice here, spot on IMHO.
I will add to it that once rust starts in the seams, it is almost impossible to repair it and get rid of it forever unless you cut it out a lot bigger than it looks and replace the affected areas with good used metal from a donor car.
I would have a good look at...
Good question(s).
Okay.
Here's the scoop on the poop.
The differences between the '72 Demon and the '73 Dusters (body wise) are as follows:
The rear bumpers and brackets are the same. (The bumperettes are not)
The trunk lid is the same.
The rear tail light panel with tail lights are totally...
Wear gloves and press on the outside of the bezels while you take the nuts off.
That keeps them flush against the tail panel and then tap on the studs from the inside while holding them with the gloves on to ease them out of their holes.
It should be a simple job, really.
My best guess is the next craze will probably be each panel painted a different color.
The main body and roof will be painted one color though, and that will be the color that is on the title.
Sheesh.......
