Replacement Radiator Help and Alum vs OEM style

That seems to be a little tight for clearance to rad.....I am no fan flex expert, but your fan does flex when you apply heavy RPM's. Not sure if this flex or "growing" goes toward the rad or back to motor away from it. You may want to test without rad in for a moment and give 'er some throttle...

The impossible to solve overheating problem

.............and no fan shroud/or inadequate shroud, to force pulling air through the rad, and not around it. Although you have found (or your new mechanic) other issues causing your overheating problems.....that little fan and no shroud is not helping you cool anything........you might want to...

Replacement Radiator Help and Alum vs OEM style

I would attempt to fill those gaps/seal them with something, if at all possible. You want to draw as much air through the fins on the front of the radiator as possible, to optimize your cooling.

    Heater Box Restoration

Thanks for link/info......as I was just going to ask if there was a kit and where to get, as I have to drop my heater box to put in a new heater core coming up this spring..........and thought I might as well re-freshen the whole box.

    another 360/408 over heating

That sux! Those flex fans are for show cars and trailer queens in my opinion.....they have a bad history of coming a part at high RPM as well. Just lucky, not lucky that you were at low RPM. I have seen them come apart and go through an inner fender.

    Heater core

Yes, please let me know, as I have to replace the one in my '72 Demon....as it is fubar'd..leaks more than it circulates...lol.....and is irreparable. I looked at NAPA ones, and they too seem to be the Spectra ones. I am like you, price does not really matter, just want one in place so a guy...

    another 360/408 over heating

Every overheating issue I read about, concerns using electric fans. (IMHO..I do not think they draw enough air flow through rad to cool efficiently) Most cure the problem by: - going back to the factory fan (or a similar fan...maybe a bit bigger) - a properly fitted and sealed fan shroud <most...

    Heater core

Not necessary to take dash out, BUT if you take out the glove box liner (4-6 screws, then folds in half to remove out the front) you will be able to see and access the heater cable control on top of box & electrical connection(s) through glove box opening. Makes it a bit easier than feeling...
