    Blowing voltage regulators

I would be with 1969383S and suspect wiring and/or a grounding issue. I would buy a new VR Plug, as it may have bad connections INSIDE it where you can not see.....I have had this issue with a VR Plug before....looks good and may test good, but once you are driving the bad connections inside it...

    Crappy parts store voltage regulators

.....cool.....seems like running a few new wires might help eliminate the possibility of the 50 year old wiring being suspect and having a break/bad connection somewhere is in order. Does not help that these NEW parts from parts stores are half junk from the word go nowadays either.

    Crappy parts store voltage regulators

....maybe a lose wire that jiggles when your motor is at idle and thumping along......and then when motor is at a constant acceleration it isn't "idle jiggling" the lose wire???

    Ammeter pegged...

....if the issue arises again, you may want to check/replace the actual PLUG for the VR. I had the connections go bad/break inside the rubber of the plug once...and all seems normal, from the outside. It may have temporarily "fixed" itself since you have been handling the plug (bad connection...

    Mini Starter?

...just the weight difference when holding/putting a mini in place is worth it....lol. Huge difference in crank over time too.......the big old originals always make it sound like your battery is half dead all the time.

    Mini Starter?

As others have stated previously, a '95 V8 era (plus or minus a few years) off of a Dakota works fine.....I have used the ones from Napa and have had no issues. No need to overspend on a specific high torque mini starter, when a stock Dakota one serves the same purpose

    Currently getting 18 volts..

Yes...grounds through bolts/housing. ....I once had the actual plug/connector for regulator go bad...connections inside were bad.....another thing to check for troubleshooting.

Who is running MSD 6/AL with MSD Billet Distributor? Do you like it?

I would try the GM HEI conversion first......once you eliminate the Mopar ICM and ballast resistor (poor spark and unreliable...IMHO), the better spark from the GM HEI module is instantly recognizable once you fire it up....it will run a lot "cripser" I did the conversion on my Duster 340 and...

No more than 12.5 charging-Has to be VR problem?

It is called a Voltage Regulator Connector/Pigtail....some list it as a Voltage Regulator Socket. I picked mine up at my local Napa......but you can find them at almost any reliable parts store.....Summit racing has them as well. I just dont like that the replacement only comes with about 3...

No more than 12.5 charging-Has to be VR problem?

Well, had a few long 14 hr days at work, so I didnt get to testing on the mopar for a few days. I decided to take part of Trojmn advise about running new wires, so this is what I did: >Disconnected the VR PLUG (the triangle shaped connector) >Made up 2 new wires for the VR.....1 for Ignition...

    HID Headlight conversion

I would love to have some bright HID's in the old mopar....I have them in my truck for work and the difference is amazing and will never run without them again. Has anyone installed a kit like in the link below? And if so, any issues, other than maybe needing to upgrade some old mopar wiring...
