Welcome to the trials and tribulations of building a hot rod. Think about all of the old timers who didn't have the references we have in the electronic age. LOL

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Speaking of small town police, years ago I bought a 64 Belvedere 426/425 HP 4 speed former SS car. It needed a LOT of work to go back on the street semi legally. I was courteous to the neighbors by not running it with open headers early in the morning and late evenings. At the time, I lived in a...

Scott, you may grow tired of the exhaust ending at the rear axle. I know my 70 Duster with a 458 inch stroker and 3" exhaust was so loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. After about 3 months, I extended my tail pipes to the rear bumper.

Scott either I missed it or it hasn't been mentioned, has the thought of a limiter come up? It will limit the ping pong effect with the elephant ears from acceleration and deceleration. I have one on my car because it has a front and mid motor plate. If I missed it, disregard but if not you...

If using the braided stainless lines, be sure there is a brake fluid resistant lining. Some of the very cheap hoses are not lined and they flex something awful. I had a friend who cheaped out and bought the least expensive lines, they didn't make it down his driveway before one ruptured.

That is why this site is so successful, there is a "LARGE" amount of knowledge here that is totally free for the asking. With 61,000 plus members and if each member had a years worth of knowledge, just do the math. LOL

As I said, that was an old time trick, but people didn't realize how big of a part that brace played in keeping the body rigid. The only part thr B body transmission played was the fact that the B body tail housing was longer than the A body housing.

Cutting that brace out was an old time trick to get the 4 speed linkage to clear the floor pan on cars that didn't have the 4 speed hump. A good friend bought a 70 Challenger many years ago and shelled the clutch in it. He called and asked if I'd help him put in a new clutch assembly and...

My guess on pulling the tunnel ram would be because he wants streetability. Over the years I've run tunnel rams in street cars and race cars, the tuning on the race cars were one thing, but trying to tune a tunnel ram on a street car is a totally different ball game.

Just go LED as they burn out, I only have one light that isn't LED and I have it's replacement waiting in the wings. I've see about a 20% reduction since I have replaced all of the lights in the house and all but one in my work area. Plus, none of the LED's generate the heat that incandescent...

I mounted some of my lights at a 45* angle along both walls, this helped tremendously when working in the interior. And, at thst angle you weren't looking into them everytime you turned around.

Max, I'm of the same mind set these days. I've owned numbers matching cars in the past, but these days I lean more towards fast street cars and quick 1/8 mile cars.

The 4.10 gear is great stop light to stop light and for short high RPM bursts. You will probably tire from the high RPM, low fuel mileage quickly. Ask me how I know.

While you have it on the rotisserie would be a good time to install subframe connectors, instead of trying to weld overhead.
