Right, but when he puts the hump on, I bet it will look fine. At that point only the shifter will come through the floor.

    4 speed linkage

Pretty sure my 1-2 and 3-4 shift rods go above the crossmember like that. I think he is just missing the 4 speed hump, makes it look wrong. Bet he is doing a conversion.

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

Any chance you could post some pictures and specifics? Be nice to be able to figure out why some work and others don’t.

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Must have been the next ratio down. A quick look on the Randy's Ring and Pinion site does show a 3.08, but you are out of luck for a 2.73. And a quick search on Strange's website shows the tallest there is 3.31. I know it was just an idle curiosity so I wasn't looking hard for them. It only...

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Can you even buy a new set of 3.08 gears? Seems like I looked awhile ago and places like Randy's stopped (started?) at 3.2x.

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

Glad to hear. Sorry about the false alarm. No idea what tripped my brother up, but I am certain it wasn't the fuse panel. I hurt myself pretty good so I haven't been able to go up and see his build since December, so I can only go off what he told me on the phone.

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

I wasn’t trying to be negative, not really sure how you read that into it. Maybe you missed that I was also agreeing with you? Your “life experiences” are exactly my hesitation with an A8 and most builds on here. And to be clear, the 6.4 reference is pertinent as the OP has that exact motor in...

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Exactly my point in post #33 in regards to an A8. If your motor won’t work well at the lower cruise RPM’s that the taller rear gear and OD offer, it can make the car worse. And sometimes it isn’t tuning but more just the engine build. Just have to point out that a 2015+ 6.4/A8 runs at 1560...

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

I asked him to, but I don't think he will. And I asked if he took pictures of the interference and he said no. I will tell him that someone talked to Malwood who didn't think there should be a problem. Maybe that will push him to reach out.

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

Here's some pictures from my car. No extra holes for a different e-brake location. Looks tight, not saying it won't work, but doesn't look like a lot of room either.

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

To be clear, when he called me all we talked about was the interference between the e-brake and Malwood kit. The fuse panel never entered the discussion. Wouldn’t be surprised if it interferes now, but I don’t believe it is the issue with the e-brake. Not saying my brother didn’t miss...

I think he placed the fuse panel after kicking the e-brake to the curb.

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

I wonder if they even thought about it. Didn't cross my mind until my brother called and said the e-brake doesn't fit. I know it is a new kit, he waited on them while they were developing it. Not certain but I think this is the e-brake kit my brother bought...

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

For what it’s worth, it was just this week that he found the problem. I need to verify that he talked to Malwood about it so they know.

Malwood underdash hydraulic kit for A-Bodies

Just to follow up on this, my brother mounted his Malwood kit and found that the stock under dash e-brake setup no longer fits. The MC interferes with it. He is going to an electric actuated e-brake rather than a hand pull setup. But maybe not for everyone so thought I would make it known.

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

To be clear, I think the biggest potential issue with an 8HP is more if you run a motor that is a little high strung and carb'ed. The deep first gear of the 8 speed kind of forces you into running a taller rear gear, but that can result in highway RPM's that aren't to the liking of the motor...

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

    For what it's worth, here are the numbers I worked up when I was looking at an 8HP 8HP70 w/ 245/45R20 8HP70 w/ 275/35R18 1st 4.69 4.69 2nd 3.13 3.13 3rd 2.1 2.1 4th 1.67 1.67 5th 1.29 1.29 6th 1 1 7th 0.84 0.84 8th 0.67 0.67 Final Drive 3.06 2.71 MPH 20 (1st)...

Those Running 3.73 And a TF w/ LockUp.. What's your highway Driving Like?

Just something to think about, but the later model cars with an 8HP run a 3.06 for the performance ratio and that is with an almost 29" tall tire. Those 8HP's have some really deep first gears and (I don't think) work well with the normal idea of a performance ratio. I think I settled on a...

Not arguing, but seems hard to believe they 46RH controller wouldn't work on a 42RH. The plug is the same, they function the same, one is just more HD. But I'm no expert, so maybe I am missing something.

    318/8 Speed Swap

I've adopted the same plan; limit mods during the winter to what I can get done before nice weather and keep it off jackstands during the summer. This winter was suppose to be the winter of the 5.7/T56 swap but I've changed directions and plan to put that combination in a '73 Duster that I...

    318/8 Speed Swap

Any progress on any of this? I tripped over an outfit in Australia that is outfitting the 8HP's with a virtual clutch that locks up the TC and engages or disengages internal clutches progressively just like a real clutch. Looks pretty cool. Also found out that the SGE kit allows for a Sport...

    8HP70 Clutchflite??

I’ve been watching a playlist on that channel where they put an 8HP70 in a BMW M3 drift car. Been pretty interesting. There are like 5 clutch packs in the 8HP and that’s what they lock and unlock to make the virtual clutch work. And the owner of the car said it felt just like a manual car and...
