Exactly How Do I Install Hooker Headers if Possible

The PS may make it more challenging. But I have not had any experience with PS & Header installs. Guessing there is a member that has done it that will hopefully chime in. Be well

Exactly How Do I Install Hooker Headers if Possible

They fit fine on my 72 Duster, 340/727 manual steering and brakes. Get the car up as high as safely possible, 2+ feet, Passenger side is easy peazy, drivers side takes some finagling but should slide in. Of course pull steering arm, starter oil pan helps. Though I can get mine in with the pan in...

    Hooker Header Help

Well, I raised the car with engine mounted in place. The key for me was/is getting that straight angle up into place. If you just need a little wiggle room, guessing you could loosen up that side motor mount. Pics might help troubleshoot.

    Hooker Header Help

Get the car up as high as you safely can. If you can almost get a straight up shot from below It should slide in with a little finagling. Can loose the motor mount too.

    Headers

Yeah. Cheap headers work. Running old Hooker Comps on my Duster 340.manual steering. Need to disconnect steering linkage but they fit. I'm even able to do it with the oil pan in place. But much easier if removed. Key is getting car up high, at least 3 feet so you can go straight up and in with...

    header delima...

Encountered that with the Hooker Comps that came on the Duster. Dimpled the contact spot for clearance, then welded the hole. Been running them ever since, 11 years now. Pat

    Hooker competition headers

I have them on my Duster. Trick is getting the car up as high possible, i.e. 24" - 36". Take your time they'll fit, at least on a 72 manual steering Duster. Need to pull the steering link. May want to put some masking tape on the spots that rub as you fish and shove them in. Also helps to...

    Header Paint

I've had good luck with the VHT paint on my headers. Also really like the POR15 manifold paint which held up very well though very limited color choices. I used the cast iron looking stuff. Be well, Pat

    Header fitment rant, Doug's

Heck, you wont even see those modifications when you bolt everything back in place. I feel for you man, but glad to see you're close to putting this part of the build behind you. We've all been there with our cars. Hang in there! Pat

Header choice ? 1972 Dodge Dart.

I'm on a real tight budget (And kinda cheap). Rusty Hooker Comps came on my 72 Duster. Had a few dents on them when I got the car in 2011. The access to that rear bolt by the #7 hole is tight, but other than hitting them up with some POR15 and VHT paint, no problems so far. Was happy to find out...

Headers vs 360 manifolds for 318

Cheap headers work fine. The first time installing them truly sux. But after that it's really not that difficult if you are able to safely get the car up high (2.5 - 3') to allow a fairly straight shot up into place. Sure you will likely have to disconnect the steering linkage, sometimes...

    Hooker headers

Hey Ryan, I'm running hooker comps on my Duster and have had to take them on and off many times for various repairs etc. The key is to get your car as high as you safely can, i.e. 2.5-3 feet. Passenger side is easy (I do run a 90 degree filter adapter. ) the driver side is tighter but goes in...

TTI’s are you freaking kidding me!

I hear you about the roads man. For all the construction around here, the roads never seem to get any better. I really like the quick jacks a lot. Made getting the 727 out, and back in, a breeze (relatively!). Also get's the car high enough to slide the headers straight up and in, which was a...

TTI’s are you freaking kidding me!

Here's a pick of the Hookers on my Duster. They do hang down a bit. So I don't go flying over RR tracks or curbs. But hey, they were free! ;) The first time I removed them sucked. But after doing it several times i got the process down to where it's not a big deal for me. That said, I'm cheap...

    Summit headers

Insert from below but you gotta get the car up quite high, like 3 ft. A bit of a pain, but doable. Disconnect steering arm, drop oil pan.... some folks loosen a motor mount to gain some space. It takes some serious finagaling. Be well, Pat

    Headers?

Hey Larryb, While many folks turn their noses up to them, the cheap, ie FREE in my case, Hooker Comps on my Duster fit nicely. The key to the install is to get the car up high, like 3 feet high. Disconnecting the idler arm was a pain the 1st time. But after having pulled and installed the...
