Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

On my truck, there's that bracket that attaches to the block with 2 bolts, and a single dedicated belt to the 3-row crank pulley. But you knew that right. I just ordered a 'new' Lares pump and pulley. I'm sick of messing around with it at this point.

Anyone know how hard it would be to find another air cleaner like the one in post #26? I got some DIY ideas and if I mangle it, I need a contingency plan.

@volaredon I don't have any answers for you, but I'll take all the pics you want of my truck. Made some progress. Air pump gone, new pulley finished. Appears bulletproof at first blush. Ground a slot for a prybar to make the tension adjustment. Works nicely. New battery stuff done.

Crap, pool of PS fluid on the floor. The Saginaw 'reman' pump is leaking out of the box from a seam on the bottom of the reservoir. And it's too late to return it directly to Rockauto. Going to have to be a manufacturer warranty claim.

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

For the air cleaner, I know a guy who can modify it. He's not cheap but does good work. Last resort. Sometimes I get these runs of blind luck. Gates 38039 pulley installed without much ado. Air pump gone. I bolted it in with hardware I had lying around. Works for now. What's needed is a 3-hole...

Out with the old, in with the new. I'm going to add a new engine to chassis ground as a final step.

Cool. Off to do some electrical work. Oddly that choke wire connects to the blue wire coming off oil pressure sensor. lol I think it's switched 12vdc. What the engineer had in mind I've not figured out.

Ok no worries, that gasket is available and cheap. As long as it wasn't a custom rubber factory gasket. I'd hunt it down with vigor in that case.

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

Ok, I know you sent the air cleaner separately. I'll have to go look. But what you sent is like Fel-Pro 60448?

Or my blunder. Did you send a flat round gasket? I thought I saw a factory (sort of custom) rubber one in a pic somewhere.

Maybe that and add a spacer to raise it up a little if needed. I need to find the gasket the goes between the air cleaner and carb too.

Got all the vacuum hoses routed and figured out. Well the Super SIx air cleaner ain't gonna clear the AC compressor. Not even close. Any ideas? I see one was made for AC, not sure it would clear either. [SOLD] - Super Six Air Cleaner Housing

Throttle and kickdown cables for Super Six

Thanks, yea I was looking at the old 1bbl pieces and wondered why that slot was there and read about it. The info was in an old Chrysler video which was definitely worth a watch. I ranked it up there with texting and driving lol. Anyway, I'm going to wire in a kill switch so I'll have something...

Throttle and kickdown cables for Super Six

Run the wire cable back through the cable sheath. Reinstall the cable assembly and attach the carb end, making sure of free movement. Attach the other end to the gas pedal lever, using the ball shank and collar. I used two collars. Make a bracket for the return spring. Construct the...

Throttle and kickdown cables for Super Six

A brief write up with pics, since it seems this may work. This is how I handled the throttle and kickdown cables going from a Holley 1bbl to Carter BBD 2bbl Super Six in my 1980 D150. Everything appears to function, but is untested as of yet. The Rusty one found me a 2bbl bracket, so I had...

Got the fuel line run, and most of the vacuum stuff figured out. Ju Cool. And it's full synthetic. Got the fuel line run, and most of the vacuum stuff figured out. Just to clarify, the distributor vacuum advance port on the BBD is where the choke is connected to right now? Nothing seems to...

LOL, with the drugs the doc is giving me it could happen! How do you feel about the VR1 Racing Oil, Rob? Just heading out to the garage now. Fuel and vacuum line work. Maybe some wiring. I'll snap some pics. Still waiting on the wrench to finish the throttle cable mod. I took pics for that one...

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

Yea a tensioner/idler would be sweet to replace the air pump. That air pump you see is a not too old reman and it's showing wear. Probably will start making noise not far down the road. On order, I'll make it work I think https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C2SGMK/?tag=fabo03-20

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

Started over with PS pump/bracket. Took everything apart and reassembled and now it's ok. I must have had something cattywhompus. Found out the air pump has to stay because it tensions the AC belt. Oh well. Last pic is the heater hose reroute underneath the alternator. I made a little bracket to...

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

On a good note, what a fine selection they had, everything I wanted. Got the heater hoses run. Odd little setup. Both holes at the motor (head/water pump) are 5/8" ID. But on the 4-port heater valve (FSM shows 2-port BTW), one is 5/8" and the other is 1/2". So I used 1/2" hose and forced it onto...

I'm going to run it right now and make the purdification an after-project. Went and got 1 1/4" long 5/16"-18 grade 8 black oxide flange bolts to secure it. Holy frijole, has anyone priced hardware lately? $20 bucks for a few bolts and washers at True Value, and that was with 10% vet discount...

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

Yes that's factory, and it looks even higher in real life while I gaze at it. I had to remove 3 of the water pump housing bolts to mount the bracket, now I got to buy longer ones to make sure of the bite. The only decent idea I have is to modify that bracket and make the spot where smog pump was...

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

I'm installing a new 225 motor in my 1980 truck. The smog pump is gone and I am definitely not digging the highboy look of the AC compressor. You can see where the smog pump used to mount. Can I use bracketry from older trucks or cars? Or has someone come up with something on their own? Any...
