    Summit Rollcage

Agreed. 6 pt rollbar is OK down to 10.00 on unibody with unaltered firewall and floor. I (along with most of the "Mopers" here) will never have deep enough pockets to get out of the tens, so that's not a problem

    Summit Rollcage

Yes, that's pretty clear. Unibody cars without a full frame can have 6x6 plates welded to the floor, or a plate on top and on the bottom, sandwiched by bolts. What I'm trying to find out is, can the bars pass through a hole in the floor and be welded to the subframe connectors instead? Adding...

    Summit Rollcage

If I'm reading the NHRA rulebook correctly, the 6x6x1/8" plates are still required to be welded to the floor? It says, "Also, the roll bar may be welded to frame connectors that are fully welded in place..." but doesn't make clear if that can be used instead of the 6x6 plates.

    Summit Rollcage

Does the rollbar/cage still have to be welded to the floor if there are subframe connectors, or can they pass through holes in the floor and weld to the connectors?

Removed Column Shifter, but how do I keep it from rotating?

I drilled a small (1/8") hole through the body and on through the flange of the other collar. Then put a pop-rivet in it. No more rotation :)

    Cutting carpet for sill plates?

I finally got a good pair of sill plates for my '72 Swinger. The carpet is installed except for cutting it at the sills. How long should I cut it? Just enough to come up over the pinch weld and back down, or should there be some extension onto the sill? thanks :)

Insulation behind sail panels, or not?

I am about to install the sail panels on my '72 Swinger. They are the original vinyl over cardboard. Is there supposed to be an insulation pad behind them, or do they just fasten to the body with the nylon trim retainers? Nothing's coming up when I look in the usual sites that have headliner and...

Where do I find the push fasteners for sail panels?

Today I discovered that the local auto paint store actually carries them (Auveco #11678). Only $5.76... for a box of 25! :) Oh well, live and learn ;) I now have a lifetime supply.

Where do I find the push fasteners for sail panels?

Just a little high there :) Many places are charging $14 for shipping! Fortunately Amazon had them for $6.66 plus $2.00 shipping. I was hoping to get them in my hands but when you live in a rural area where O'Reilly and Autozone are the only options, I spend a lot of time waiting for the...

Where do I find the push fasteners for sail panels?

That sounds like a neat idea... but what's a "web site"? Meanwhile I found them on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDETZOG/?tag=joeychgo-20 *their

Where do I find the push fasteners for sail panels?

They appear to be "Panel Trim Retainers". Lots of them out there, even from the chain auto stores. Will take a look on my next trip to town. (We don't have a NAPA though, and don't think there's one within 40 miles!)

Where do I find the push fasteners for sail panels?

'72 Swinger, sail panels... each is held to the body by two nylon push fasteners. The fastener has a "two-step" head, and the upper part has a notch so it can be rotated into the panel boss and retain it. A look on ebay showed over 9,000 entries for plastic push fasteners! Can someone please...

    Headliner insulation question

Insulation was just delivered... it is in two parts, so my question is answered ;) Naturally it's only reached 47F even though it's mid-afternoon, not a great day to use the yellow 3M Super Adhesive spray...

    Headliner insulation question

This may be a silly question, but the existing headliner insulation had already been removed when I bought the stripped shell... I ordered one of these: 1972 Dodge Dart Parts | MA814 | 1967-76 Dart / Dart Swinger / Scamp Headliner Insulation | Classic Industries I'm planning on using 3M #08090...

    Bulb socket for dome light?

It's not hard to remove the incandescent bulb and replace it with an LED at some later date... doesn't even require tools  Besides, I don't plan to be using the car at night much if at all. More like a "Saturday afternoon special" :)

    Bulb socket for dome light?

Got tired of searching unsuccessfully... so I mounted the socket formerly used in the steering column on a 1/4" standoff insulator. The return wire is soldered to the socket stamping. I even had a suitable #431 bulb handy (3.5 watts) that fits the miniature bayonet socket, close enough to...

    Bulb socket for dome light?

Does anyone have a part number for a socket (and bulb) that will fit my '72 Swinger's dome light? I have a good chrome base and plastic lens, just need the bulb socket itself. Not having much luck searching. Thanks.

    headliner

Nice work, j par... My cardboard is a long way from perfect but definitely better than your "before" pic. :) I used a lot of spray cleaner and paper towels to get many years of dust and bird poop off it... then slid it into the car. It was interesting trying to get it lined up, but finally I...

    headliner

I know next to nothing about headliners... bought my '72 Swinger (2-door hardtop) as a stripped rolling shell, stuffed with all the parts in boxes & bags. And a cardboard headliner that looks reusable. I found this article on replacement vinyl liners with bows: How To Replace Your Headliner On...

Replacing the seats in your A body.... opinions

I installed (nonpower) seats from an '01 Intrepid to replace the really heavy bench seat that needed reupholstering... had to make angle-iron brackets but they are comfortable
